This broadcast is from Saturday, January 24, 1987 -- the day before Super Bowl XXI. I was in junior high then and we did get a LOT of snow that year. I lived near the airport at the time and remember that plane crash.

A ton of other Scripps Howard stations used similar sets. And I would have fired whoever replaced that great driving 'farting trombone' theme with 'The Mission". It works on a national level, but not locally.

This is great. This brings back a lot of memories. Any chance you have the WMC noon show where Dick Williams thought Dick Hawley and Jane Segal were laughing at him and walked off the weather map and over to the desk to ask what was so funny?

Dick Williams Rocks! I loved "Magicland" as a kid in the 70s and he apparently still holds the record for longest running TV Magic show. Somewhere in the order of 1200 original episodes over 20 plus years.

WMC-TV has been owned by Raycom Media since 1996 when the station bought Ellis Communications, which had owned some Fox affiliates, too.

Oh wow, just before my 7th birthday, and I definitely remember the snow we got, something like 8-10". We used to have a VHS tape my grandfather took of me and my little brother out playing in the snow in East Memphis, near Quince and Perkins.

Awesome, I loved magic land when i was a kid in the 70s. I was actually looking for Dick Williams' "Magic Show" when i found this clip. Now i can search for the correct title instead. Thanks ;)

It was so unusual they WMC used the entire Mission suite. Love hearing cues that even the network no longer uses. I hated when WMC switched to new music in the early 90's.
