He was an excellent reporter and nice man. I met him when he lived at Miller's Pond.

The news anchors and reporters had class in those days. They are mostly unprofessional and overweight now.

Remember when this happened, 30 years ago. The descriptions of the accident scene still give me chills. One correction; pretty sure Shepard Smith had already left Ole Miss for a news job in Florida before this happened.

In 2023 just read a story on the accident. It was horrific. Incredible article a young lady named Paige Williams wrote for O Magazine. Google it. It brought tears to my eyes.

I am an Atlanta native and grew up watching Brenda Wood on WMC-TV. It's good to see her so young

@@jwgreek8606 didn't realize KZbin has been on 16 years and that might be a record longest time to comment on a post and the fact you read it so quickly. I went to Ole Miss and moved to Atlanta after. Had her in Memphis and Atlanta.

Brenda Wood left Memphis for Atlanta's channel 5 WAGA, which was then a CBS affiliate later turned FOX. The fanfare for her moving to WXIA-11 came as she waited out a non-compete clause after leaving WAGA channel 5.

I'm not sure why I thought of this accident in August 2023. Googled it and that was the article it pulled up. The poor young man who came across the accident with his girlfriend is a hero. Can't imagine how that affected him throughout his life.
