"The video is the first part of a test run involving a semicontinuous pyrolysis retort. This video showcases two days of testing and trials, featuring different arrangements and configurations. The retort is designed to process plastics, waste oil, and possibly rubber. This experimental unit is small in scale but can be easily scaled up. Additionally, it can be powered using electricity, LPG, or an oil burner, making it a versatile and adaptable solution for various applications.

Thank you for development of low-electricity use - I have a ton of firewood at my disposal but am off-grid solar most the time - can't really be running 5kw of heaters for a 10 hour distillation haha! I look forward for when you sell plans.

Yes, this is the concept that can be powered with whatever available heat source, that mostly economically viable at particular point in space. For example for 20L of oil processing I used 2L of LPG, it is 10 NZ dollars, while the same 10 dollars will give me about 50kw/h, that would potentially make me 200l of processed oil, thus in my case electricity is more economically viable, while in case of total power loss, I still be able to use some firewood or coal for the same operation - versatility.

Hi Alek thank you so much this type of still. You sir are amazing thank you for what you share. You folks have cheap electric. I figured it out we pay 60 cents nz per kWh. You pay 11.6 cents us. Diesel in California is over 6 usd. The people running this state are crazy and hate freedom. Thanks again for what ya do.

...known to the state of California... Yes you have it $6 per gallon that about 1.62 per Litre, or $2.78NZ so we have it at about 2.22 to 2.38 per L, plus $76 of road charges per 1000km, on the other hand the road charges are good thing, as they do not care what one would put in a fuel tank.

What was the grainy / pebble stuff you put in the base of the burn chamber.... and why did you?

some already used silicagel, for preventing the carbon from sticking to the reactor's bottom plate.

Does silica gel really prevent carbon buildup inside the reactor chamber?

Mostly prevents it from solidifying and sticking to the bottom of the reactor.

this is exactly what am looking most for.... Less electricity for powering it... maybe use non diesel fractions to drip into burner to assist burner 's job as the the heat source in production of diesel fractions. . . THe good stuff end result being mostly Diesel fraction is desired outcome. Of course there will be "something" more left too. Petrol fractions would be fine. Wonder how well the resulting fraction(s) could be used for blending with filtered straight motor oil. instead of refining it further such as running it thru a petrol separator. Aka retort producing mostly a "blending" agent to mix with other filtered (but not run thru a retort) waste Motor Oil. Use that "blend" to run diesel engine(s) on. ( got couple.... fuel hungry CAT truck, MB617 Jeep and , yancloned motorcycle)

The tube that connets the bottom plate and the top of the column is conducting burnable gases from retort to the burner part of the contruption, so it really assists the heating, not LPG alone. The resulting fuel was processed through petrol separator, and then chemically treated and run throgh centrifuge, and currently in the fuel tank of my turbodiesel Mazda, use it as normal diesel after treatment. The next video will show the rest of the process, plus thicker oil distillation.

That's very good question what is exact temperature we get petro?

There isn't an exact temperature; any temperature that allows the long hydrocarbon chains to split will produce some amount of petrol. However, the higher the temperature, the better the results. Additionally, the thicker the oil, the better the petrol ratio in the distillate. Therefore, I believe a temperature range between 450°C to 600°C would be optimal for obtaining significant amounts of gaseous and light fractions.

Алек, пиролиз лучше производить при температуре не более 500 градусов Цельсия, иначе выход газовой фракции будет большой. Ну и после деструкции отдельно делать разгонку на фракции, можно катализатор добавить для циклизации алканов и алкенов в высокооктановое топливо.

Максимум держу 420 градусов, после перегона делаю отделение бензина (лёгких фракций) видео будет опосля чуток, лишние вонючие газы идут на дожигание и дополнительный подогрев - трубка идущая от верха колонны лёгких фракций вниз в зону горения.

@@santeryi9 Норм для масла. Полистирол 97% разложение при 430, а вот для высокомолекулярных соединений: ПЭВД, ПЭНД, ПЭТФ, ПС температура нужна ближе к 500 градусам. Чтобы пластиковое сырьё не перегревалось в месте нагрева нужно добавлять что-либо жидкое высококипящее типа мазута, и мешалка нужна в идеале. Если температура будет не достаточной будет много парафинов. Ну и нужно отделять углеводородное сырьё (PE, PP) от кислородсодержащего (карбонаты, стиролы, терефталаты), а галогенсодержащие (фторопласт, ПВХ) лучше вообще не перегонять. Ну и резина, её можно перегонять, но нужен сменный фильтр на основе железа и его оксидов, и гидрозатворы для улавливания серы и получения серной кислоты. Кстати, ПЭТ смысла перегонять вообще нет, выход жидких до 39%.

@@santeryi9 Для риформинга при разгонке на фракции с целью получения высокооктановых присадок в виде ароматических соединений (бензол, толуол, этилбензол, ксилол) нужно использовать катализатор на основе алюмосиликатов и цеолитов. Иначе получится низкооктановый бензин, пригодный лишь как растворитель.

All asfalt and bitumen remain inside the reactor? How you regulate the temperaturer since gas burn allways with same temeprature?

The bottom is red hot, so the deposits are solid carbon, the temperature controlled either by intencity of the flame or by the supply flow.

I heat my still very slowly to 160c at the reflux head. Then leave it for a bit Then increase to 285c slowly. It starts producing fuel about 60c but most is produced at 285c. The SG is just below 0.8 so I don’t separate the lighter fractions

The temperature of about 375c will give best quality, the temperature of about 410 is best conversion, production flow and maximum separation of diesel fraction without light hydrocarbons forming.

With oil processing there is no lighter fractions to separate, they start to form at temperatures over 400c.

If run correctly, there is only solid dry carbon residue left, so shavel it out.
