Great compilation. That clip of the light power on the PM branch crossing over 20 is gold.

I briefly lived in Goshen back in the middle 80s and worked in Nappanee, Conrail hauled butt thru there everyday, I moved back to Anderson where I grew up on the North/South line from Anderson to Elkhart yards, I remember NW switching out an elevator near downtown Elwood as it's where my Father grew up!!! NW tore out the old Nickel Plate line from Elwood to Tipton, I watched that as we would go to my uncles farm in Tipton!!

Those ex EL SD45s had expired on their leases by the mid 80s. Those leases were made during the days of DERECO. So the locos went back to NW/NS. They ran a year or two and then they were stored. CR had run the piss out of them. You don't see many photos of them in NS service.

It's surprising how many autoracks were still open style back then. Very few with roofs and almost none with doors. I would have thought the enclosed trend started sooner than this.
