Quite a cast of characters, all the while Chuck was well preserved.

I never watched News Channel 4 except for the opening and Len Berman’s sports segment. :)

1. I miss seeing a proper opening showing us who the anchors are for 5, 6 & 11. 2. I miss Sue Simmons 3. I’m glad Chuck Scarborough is still on Channel 4 as of 1/8/22

Chuck is now into 48 years at WNBC. I think he is now the longest tenured anchor at any one station.

@@chuckers40 But with the wave of retirements at sister stations KNBC (Fritz Coleman, Chuck Henry, and Fred Roggin) and WMAQ (Rob Stafford), Scarborough could be next to hang it up.

@@johnnyballenatl There is something going on with the NBC O&O's Chuck Henry (KNBC), and my home station WRC-TV NBC4 Washington, DC: it started with Wendy Reiger at the end of 2021 after 34 years (she passed a few months later), Doreen Gentzler retired a few months ago after 33 years, Pat Collins retired after 50 years, 36 at WRC and now anchor Pat Lawson Muse will be retiring at the end of this month after 40 years at WRC. Also Jim Rosenfield NBC10 in Philly just retired.

Don Alhart, lead anchor at WHAM-TV in Rochester, NY, has been on the air at the station since 1966. At 79, he is the same age as Chuck Scarborough. According to Guinness, Mr Alhart is the longest-tenured anchor at any station; Scarborough easily has the longest tenure at any network owned-and-operated station

I described it wrong. The generic intros lasted until 1993, then the 1994 talent intros actually started in 1993 not 1994.

Before NewsCenter 4, WNBC-TV’s early evening newscasts were known as “The Pressman-Ryan Report” and later “The Sixth Hour News” (This was around the time when NBC News had control of WNBC-TV’s newscasts).
