The ref could have given Usyk a TKO win since fury was getting battered and was on Bambi legs with no defence, but instead he tried his best to get in the way of Usyk as much as he could, then gave Fury the count after the fifth time he fell on the ropes.

He wasn’t even defending himself neither. I also noticed Turki Alasheikh was out of his chair and stood up in the Fury’s corner. I wonder if the referee saw that and was afraid to wave the fight off?

This referee helped Fury. He interfered with Usyk 3 times during the 9th round attack. That would have been a stoppage if Mark Nelson didn't repeatedly interrupt Usyk's flow. When a boxer is falling into the ropes you don't interrupt the flow to issue the slowest standing 8 of all time. If the boxer scoring a ropes knockdown is 5 feet away you don't interrupt the flow. You do a prompt standing 8 by picking up the count from the timekeeper ...5... 6... 7... 8... glove wipe "BOX" That takes 5 seconds. When Joshua got up quickly, but ignored the referee, and casually walked to a corner? The referee ended the fight. "YOU'RE OUT" ... If you're stalling around for time he's going to rule the bout OVER.

Once the ref took over the count it was slow. However, my complaint is him stepping in when Fury didn't actually go down. Either let him go down or stop it. And everyone initially thought he stopped it.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the count - was it longer than 10 secs between going down and action restarting? yes, but all counts are because the refs always check in on the fighter after. What was definitely wrong was the actions of the ref once Fury was hurt. At around 25 seconds remaining in rd 9 you can see the ref *grab* Usyk's left wrist/arm, stopping him throwing it, then at around the 15 second timer-mark you can clearly see that the ref has obstructed Usyk's path and gotten in his way (the camera pans across it but you can very obviously tell he's in Usyk's way). It's reminiscent of Joshua v Breazeale in the second round when AJ had him hit hurt badly. Brezeale stumbled back into the ropes and as Joshua was advancing on him the ref stepped between them and pushed AJ back to give Brezeale time to compose himself. I'll never understand why he did that, just like I don't understand the ref's interruptions vs Usyk.

The referee held Alex hand from finishing him off. Just imagine something like this happening in the fight with naturally more aggressive fighter, like Mike Tyson, back in the day. He would of knocked out both referee, and the opponent. Alex is kind, decent people loving personality. He obeyed the ref call. That’s it. But the “robbery” was in the process.. would he not drop Fury, they would give to Tyson anyway. AJ was waiting in the crowd.. that would sell big time.

The ref put his hand on usyk before usyk hit fury with the punches which put fury down. I don't know about the count but the ref was unprofessionally biased, interfering with a fight sequence. But I won't take any tears from you about bad calls, when you celebrated Jack Reiss giving Fury a long count against Wilder and letting him jog around the ring before resuming the action

I will need to watch it back again in full but getting between the fighters if you're stopping the action for an 8 count doesn't seem that suspect when I think about it fairly. The problem as I remember it, is Fury was being held up by the ropes long before then and the ref had no interest in making him do an 8 count. Couple that with a 20 second count and it looks very much like he was conscious about how close the round break was. Had he done a count earlier and at the correct speed, Usyk would have had another chance to stop Fury before the bell could save him. So there were 2 ways Usyk could have finished Fury and he was denied both. It does seem like he wanted to stop Usyk from finishing it in the 9th but I guess we will never know for sure.

He did not even call repeated back of the head shots Fury gave Usyk as well as low blows. As for jumping in (the second time, because he tried doing it before the final sequence), that was fine but the count was deliberately slow. Overall, he did a good job, kept the action going and let the fight happen without him making himself the centre stage like some have done. It was the undisputed fight, I guess stopping it when Fury was getting tagged would have been controversial too and he probably thought to give him a chance because he felt Fury could go on. It was a hard call on a big stage, and he didn't break the rules by jumping in. So, yeah, he did a decent job.

In reality, there probably shouldn't have been a trilogy with them. He didn't just count slow in the Wilder fight, he took extra time after the count before restarting the fight.

Fury clearly cheated Klitschko and hoodwinked the media and public into believing false narratives about Usyk and AJ.
