You guys need to hear Joe Cocker more in his element of rocking blues. The raw intensity of his vocals are always on full display, but my personal favorites will give you some indication as to why. YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR HAT ON from the movie 9 and 1/2 Weeks will have Sam feeling alright. UNCHAIN MY HEART is a cover of the Ray Charles classic that has Joe Cocker and Clarence Clemmons, from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, walking into a dead bar late in the evening and leaving a mushroom cloud of soul in their wake. I LOVE this video. Keep going. And enjoy

one of the funniest things i saw in my young life {70's} was watching S.N.L. and john Belushi was doing his impression of joe singing with his spastic movements when suddenly joe showed up behind him , he joined in with john and finished the song , both spasming out , funniest , most heart warming moment to experience . we all were aware of joes freaky movements but we also knew that's how deeply he felt the music and who could laugh at that ?.

This song is credited to Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher, released in 1974 on Billy Prestons 9th studio record. I love Joe Cocker's reggae influenced record Stingray (1976) that never got the attention it deserved IMO. Joe Cocker basically made a living off of covers. Some must-listens by this artist: Feeling Alright, She Came In Thru The Bathroom Window, Catfish (About the pitching legend Catfish Hunter), The Jealous kind, Look What You've done, and A song For You (A song by Leon Russell, Ray Charles, and Willie Nelson) are just a few from this unique artist. I always enjoy your reactions, TY

Joe has some great tunes, he shot to stardom with his awesome cover of "With a Little Help from My Friends" so you have to do that. The Live Woodstock version for sure. A couple of great studio takes and worth a listen as well are 'Feelin' Alright' and 'When The Night Comes' just to name two. Cheers.

there is a tnt made for tv movie called "door to door" starring william h macy that is the "true" story of a door to door salesman who was born with cerebal palsy. there is a scene about two thirds of the way through the movie where the salesman is selling to a young mother holding her new born after having gotten the news that morning that his own mom had died and joe cocker singing you are so beautiful is the movie "score" for the scene and every time i see that movie that scene makes me tear up and "cry like a little girl". i have heard several different artists sing this song in my 60+ years ... i think even elvis has a cover of this .... and mr cocker's version is and always has been my favorite version of this song. it's one of the few joe cocker songs that i can actually understand the words ... most of joe cocker's records that I've heard have been largely unintelligible to me ... a like bob dylan😅

Joe Cocker - You Are So Beautiful... it is fine that you start with his live versions. He displays raw emotion. Fantastic. It always depends on the song what is better. Example . The studio version of Smoke On Water sounds dead and dull where as the Live version from the made in Japan album sounds alive. A Whiter Shade Of Pale was iconic decades before the live version for a reason that gets covered up by the absolutely beautiful live version. I have both versions but for decades, I have just been hearing that haunting organ in the studio version in my mind.

Joe couldn't play an instrument but certainly felt it. This cover by Cocker is the reason Negan first went to his dark side in "The Walking Dead". I also like Cocker's cover of "The Letter". That video is amusing because he's all over the place with his wonderful spastic performance while the great Leon Russell plays the keyboard in a nonchalant, almost sleepy, way.

In '70, the night my girlfriend and I decided to take some acid and go to the Fillmore in SF to see him was when we had only heard him on the radio and on his album - we had never seen him live - at the time 'air guitar' was not a labelled thing but 'spastic gyrations' was and we were in no condition to watch him and had to retreat to the cafe and just listen to the rest of the of the great show. We got to watch him and the grease band eat after the show.

John Robert "Joe" Cocker's most famous song a rearrangement is a cover from the Beatles, "A Little Help From My Friends". ""You Are So Beautiful" is a song credited to Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher that was first released in 1974 on Preston's ninth studio album, The Kids & Me." "According to differing family stories, Cocker received his nickname of Joe either from playing a childhood game called "Cowboy Joe", or from a local window cleaner named Joe."
