The book provides clear illustrations kzbin.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO diagrams that cover many of the essential topics. The projects at the end of the book are valuable for enhancing your skills and creating your own furniture. A digital platform linked to the book that could offer the plans for other woodworking projects with the cut sheets would have been a nice addition, but overall, the book is excellent.

For sanding the fan should be evacuating the booth through a filter, and for spray finishing the fan should be pressurizing the booth through a filter. When you are spraying a finish that you do not want contaminated with dust, the area must be free of dust in the air, so by pressurizing the booth with clean air it keeps dust out of the booth. It will take some trial and error to get you booth working well for both tasks. The box fan will not be powerful enough with the filter attached to do the job. Look for an old 3 speed furnace blower (from a scrap furnace), that is what I have used from time to time. Also be mindful of the type of solvents involved, your box fan's switch is not explosion proof and can spark off flammable solvents found in glues and paints that are not water soluble.

Good job, this is amazing! I’ve been using the box fan filter method for 3 years on 3 machines, so far so good! I would recommend getting a filter with most pleats, which gives you the most surface area. This means more air flow, more time between filter changes, and more filtration. I’ve found that 3M (Filtrete 1900) usually has the most pleats (almost triple of the cheap brands on Amazon!).

Nice Job. I got a Laguna dust collector, this freed up my original Dust Right collector. I built my paint booth using the Dust Right. The ideal thing about that is, like the concerns you pointed out with the box fan, the motor for the dust right doesn't come in contact with any fumes that pass through the air movement. I don't think it would work to mount it to your sanding booth but the input could be mounted to the roof and a hose over to the wall with the Dust Right mounted there. Just an idea.

Try hanging a really small winch on the ceiling so when your going to use the paint booth you bring down the cable and hook it on the end of the booth to hold up the other end that’s just hanging in the air..it will help also incase those gas shocks ever fail..once your done u unhook the winch cable and wind up the cable and bring down your paint booth👍🏻

I am actually considering buying the camera jig plans soon though for ease of setting stuff up. Box fans and AC filters are a great way to go. I made a bank of nine for my booth. Years and no complaints. Better average CFM than a commercial unit for short runs, even if it loads up faster in longer use.

Good job bro! Have you considered the use of a pulley system to open it up or keep it up. ie rope attached to the handle at the end, running through pulley wheels on the ceiling / wall etc. Then a few small weights evenly spaced out attached to the curtains to keep it down. Or if you have a super high ceiling, you can reverse it to have the pistons bring the whole frame down upon opening.
@twoidiotsoneship
@twoidiotsoneship 3 жыл бұрын
I came to the comments to suggest the same thing. If you have the unit swing down from the wall/ceiling you can still utilize the wall space and if you decide to have a bench or work surface, you don’t need to move everything out of the way to swing up the booth.

Love the innovation. You could hook up a dust collection line to the top side of the fan body and therefore would have little to no dust and crap flying around the outside of your spray booth. Just a thought. Still love it still and the folding stairs are my favorite.
