This is a marvellous series. I couldn't stop watching & have appreciated the opportunity to learn so much more about this complex situation. I will miss many of these fascinating characters, from a variety of backgrounds. Thank you!

Thank you so much for such a great 24 part documentary. I found it to be very diverse and balanced. The protagonists were very expressive in image and sound & never retreated into the background. It is one of the very few high quality documentaries.

Thank you so very much, I’ve had a great 24 hours watching this wonderful documentary! “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it most he demanded by the oppressed” Martin Luther King! I realize that peace will most likely never be achieved but the Israeli people should do more for the Palestinian people and make sure they have the same standards for them as for themselves!!

Peace in the Middle East will never be achieved until the children of Abraham’ two sons, Ishmael and Isaac reconcile in Jesus Christ, like Jacob and his twin brother, Esau, before the coming of Yeshua. Genesis 25, 19-35

It has been an amazing series, like many others I have watched each episode in succession. The personalities and their thoughts and rationales are fascinating but as they often state, complex. There is no man made solution to their problems, as the core of the issue is man-made.

This series was wonderful: interesting and engaging. Overall I noticed a lot of camaraderie between men, and not a whole lot of interaction, much less affection, between men and their wives. I would like to know to what extent Sharia law is practiced, if at all, in that area.
@janburn0072 жыл бұрын
I guess that's because men get to spend a lot of time at work with male work colleagues & also for occasional social functions outside of work - whereas the women in traditional orthodox Jewish & Muslim families would be mostly home-makers & busy with looking after all their children (of which there are usually many). That does not leave a lot of time for & often makes it difficult for women to get together & socialise with other women - except perhaps at family get-togethers.
@janvidezark2 жыл бұрын
@@janburn007 I can understand that. One would think these hard-working women would welcome some sort of "Mom's Group" in order to cope. I still wonder about the seeming lack of attention or affection between husbands and wives.

Great series - & just like a good book, I could not put it down, & watched most of the episodes back to back. I particularly enjoyed the scenes of night life & what happens in the very early hours of the morning, when most of us are still in bed asleep. I also enjoyed the explanations of the situation between the Israeli government & the arab population & the fence. There were so many different characters interviewed - from all walks of life in Israel. And I could not help thinking that that orthodox Jewish girl/young woman who, it was revealed in the early episodes, was searching for a Jewish husband, probably should have investigated the couple of young Jewish men who were evealed in subsequent episodes as searching for Jewish wives.

Yes - that's quite standard in many Jewish prayers. I like to think it's because they are grateful for not having to go through the pain of childbirth - since men are quite physically weak in that regard, when it comes to threshholds for pain etc.

Yes - it looked like it fell to the ground - but we did not actually see it on the ground - so maybe it actually fell onto one of the lower level trays on the boy's cart, or something like that.

They’re all so tired.
@janburn0072 жыл бұрын
Yes - the demands on some of them, having to get up so very early for a "commute" to work, or to attend a prayer session - would be enough to make anyone tired, I guess. But then part of that could be offset by going to bed a lot earlier in the evenings - but then that would probably take away time that they want to spend with their families - especially if they have young growing children.

Why no carpets? I watched the series Shtisel, about Orthodox Jews, and it was the same - very bare apartments with no carpets...? And why are they all drinking Nescafe (also in the series)??
@lporquai90483 жыл бұрын
Maybe because it's a hot country.... When you visit Spain or Greece they don't have carpets.

I don't have carpets anywhere in the house - carpets are filthy and cannot be cleaned properly - filthy.
@janburn0072 жыл бұрын
Carpets are not popular in some countries/areas, because they can be unhygienic & difficult to clean - especially with lots of young children around, which is usually the case with orthodox Jewish families. Also, tiled & wooden floors can sometimes be cooler in warmer climates. Some Scandinavian countries also prefer wood panelled flooring, because as previously mentioned, it is more hygienic & much easier to clean.

Because most of them live in flats/units/apartments, with no large outdoor areas for young children to play in - I think they like to have some large-ish open indoor spaces where their young children can play.

Actually, a lot of rap music does not make much sense - it's basically a number of short separate statements that are just linked together to form a "song" - which is really not a "song" as such - but simply "talking" to a rhythm/beat. I guess it's just their own way of communicating, even though it does not make a lotof sense to many people.
