South Tyrol and Trentino are Italy’s northern provinces. The journey from a bird’s eye view leads from Val Venosta in the North of Bolzano across the Dolomites in the East. Most farms have been built high up in the mountains - on scenic locations that can only be reached by road for a few years. Surgery nurse Astrid Jung likes to spend her holidays on the Tuerkhof farm - to work as a farmhand. And veterinarian Marion Tartarotti takes care of the animals that cannot be transported down to the valley. The Hochjoch glacier is where the climate changes in this world of ice are being studied.
Further south, the view from the air opens up on the vineyards on Lake Kaltern. Elena Walch, a trained architect, has become one of the most successful winemakers of the region. Near Pinzolo, Filippo Zibordi is hot on the trails of an animal species that has almost been extinct in the Alpine region: the brown bear. He studies their mating behaviour and makes sure their caves are protected. Lake Garda lies in the South of Pinzolo. It forms a hollow in between 2.000 meter high mountains. During the nights, the air cools off drastically, thus generating winds that offer the perfect conditions for kite surfers such as Chiara Piccoli.

The Alps are the most prominent mountain range in Europe and also one of the most accessible. Over thousands of years, a unique landscape was created in which man and nature shaped each other. The documentary series approaches this fascinating world from an unusual perspective - from above. Using Cineflex camera technology, "Alps from above" sets the scene for the most fascinating peaks of the Alps. Breathtaking aerial shots alternate with pointed vignettes of the mountain inhabitants; a flow of high-quality images provides a modern profile of life in the Alps.

Little problem with your sentence: Alto Adige falls on the southern side of the Alps so totally contained within Italy and the Mediterranean

@@davidetoffoletto9981 Why should all southern parts of the Alps automatically belong to Italy? How do you come up with such nonsense?

@@namenlos40 because they are geographically part of the Italian peninsula. And because the german speaking population never existed there and only arrived during the middle ages in search of better weather

@@davidetoffoletto9981 "because they are geographically part of the Italian peninsula." And Portugal should be Spain? "the german speaking population never existed there and oly arrived during the middle ages" Then the german speaking population existed there since the middle ages!

@@namenlos40 bad example, Portugal and Spain share no natural border and there is no river or mountain chain that separate the two nations. Instead the Italian peninsula is totally isolated from the rest of the continent. It's not a case the Italian Switzerland Cantun Ticino is collegated to the rest of the coutry by the longest tunnel in the world the Gottard tunnel. The Swiss know perfectly this and they have to run kilometres under the mountains to reach the Italian speaking park of their country, part of the souther side of the Alps
