Yasuke is actually the first black Samurai. He hailed from Africa but no one is quite sure from where exactly although the most likely is Mozambique. He became a samurai and close friend with Daimyō Oda Nobunaga and fought in many wars with him until Nobunaga was defeated and killed and also fought with Nobunaga heir until he was captured by the enemy forces. Although most believed he wasn't killed by them and actually exiled to Kyoto no one is quite sure what happened to him after that. Many believe that Nobunaga take a liking to him not only because he was black but very tall and super strong.
