Hello Mr. Maya, it was this video which spurred me to go to Namibia for 30 days in June of 2022 as a tourist. I am American. What a marvelous country Namibia is! I had a wonderful time there seeing the sights which you feature in this video. I also went to the hinterlands of Namibia and saw an abundance of wildlife, and exquisitely beautiful mountains, canyons, and deserts. Everywhere I went Namibians were hospitable and welcoming. All of the cities and towns are so clean. No litter anywhere. I cannot recommend Namibia enough to anyone wanting to go to an unspoiled, beautiful place.

This video has won me over. I must definitely visit Namibia, the home country of Frankie Frederick. However, African leaders must take the issue of ease of movement within Africa and between Africans very seriously. Sometimes getting flights can be so difficult and costs so much that it is even easier to travel to Europe than within Africa. How about visa restrictions and xenophobia? Mother Africa is the best place on Earth. Arise Africa. Let Africa and Africans unite and live proudly,

In Windhoek, the capital, homophobia is really not a big thing. You will always get those that stare at you and also do with mix race couples but it ends there, a simple stare and internal judgement by those narrow minded people, and life goes on. The smaller towns....homosexuality will be tolerated but I wouldn't suggest going into a pub and making a public display of it. Alcohol and cultural differences in opinion creates stupidity. So in short, being homosexual will not be a problem if you can keep it respectable when in public, same as heterosexual relationships. Hope that helps. Now go and explore the beauty of Namibia in which it was never mentioned of having the big 5 animals at Etosha pan up in the North.

I am from Zambia and there are no direct flights to Namibia, (or mozambique) even though we are neighbours. There are direct flights to Dubai though I think that is one of the biggest hindrances. It takes far longer to get to Namibia and it costs about the same as going to Dubai. Africa has a lot of work to do when it comes to intra African tourism.

Visit islands of Seychelles, Mauritius, and Cape Verde. Africa is so diverse with the most beautiful landscapes in the world. We have mountains 🏔 , deserts, pyramids , tropical islands 🏝. I disagree with you. sometimes the African countries themselves don’t want to allow us in , and when they hear west African, it’s even worse. so people go to where there is ease. Do you know the hard processes and expenses it takes to get a Namibian visa! All done intelligently as part of efforts to limit the quota of black Africans who can visit, for fear that they won’t leave or may be nefarious . Yet a non African doesn’t need a visa or gets visa on arrival. Because their marketing and tourism is tailored mainly towards international people/expatriates and not you the African.

@justinanekongo2643 3 жыл бұрын
@@sharellmaureen9983 It's cost a total of N$1100 Namibian dollars for a 3 month holiday visa to Namibia. That about 70USD. And unfortunately, alot of West Africans are refused visa become alot come in with other intentions such as human trafficking and drugs smuggling. That's why you really have to prove that you are visiting and than going back. So the visa is not expensive. But there are few countries that are exempted from even a visa. So just do your research, maybe yours is..
@sharellmaureen9983
@sharellmaureen9983 3 жыл бұрын
@@justinanekongo2643 Yes, it all depends on the agreement between your country and Namibia and the type of visa you are applying for. For some it’s USD$70 , others pay $80-90 , while some pay $26. But that is just one part, because unfortunately the Namibian high commission is not present in most African countries. So you have to pay couriers/ DHL to transport your passport and documents to them back and forth, or travel to the nearest country where they are present. And that is another cost added to the visa fee. So it is expensive based on where you live. The African Nationals that are even exempted from visa are not even up to 13 countries and it’s mostly those in the SADAC region. Visa on arrival for the rest of the other Africans are reserved for diplomatic, service and official passport holders not ordinary passport holders. So my sister it is not as easy for MANY Africans tourists as you are making it to sound.

As Africans, we cannot continue to wait for the world to appreciate our natural resources. We must take heed, be proud of what we are blessed with, encourage and motivate ourselves and our younger generations to contribute to Africa, and invest in Africa. If we are not bold and confident to embrace ourselves and be grateful for what we have right now, we will continue to complain and complain until every natural resource disappears right infront of us. Thank you, WM, for reminding us through your videos, that we Africans have what it takes to own what we have.

Correction. In 2019 we had about 1,6 million tourist, which is so far the highest we ever had. For 2020 Namibia was predicted to be the most visited country in Africa. Well, but then came corona. Ministry of Environment and Tourism is doing just about enough. This is because they mostly put effort of advertisement mostly to Europe, with Germany and then England toping. Unfortunately however, most tourists destinations aren't tailored for the local people. They are way to expensive. Alright to be honest government does give local Namibians lower rates on Government owned destinations but for a many people, it is yet still too expensive. Private lodges, one can almost forget about them, for the majority Namibian people. There, tourists seeking Safary advanture can pay up to N$70 000, for a 2 week trip. So basically we do need to improve the industry, which is mostly run by whites, to become more local and African countries friendly. Having said this and while I do not have the latest figures Angolans have always been the highest visiting numbers to Namibia. The rest of countries are as follows: South Africa, Zambia, Germany, Zimbabwe, Botswana, France, United Kingdom, United States and the Netherlands. Latest rising editions are the Nordic countries then Spain and Italy. Angolans mostly come for medical services and educational purposes. So I say, if it was my choice, yes, please bring us the rest of Africa, to our beautiful country.

Namibia worth visit. We visited this August 2023 because of you Wode. My children are begging that we return again. Lots of tourism activities!!! Two weeks were not even enough. Boat cruise and sandwich harbour drive game in desert of Walvis Bay, Etosha park and watching the sun set from Windhoek were my top 3. Visit Namibia you will change your mindset about Africa 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

As member of the diaspora (particularly Jamaica) I can honestly say that the education system has failed us tremendously. The only thing we know is that our ancestors were taken from West Africa. Many of these countries you have visited they don't teach us about including Namibia. It is really up to us to change the narrative as Wada Maya would say. You're doing a great job 👏

I visited Namibia with my wife back in December 2018, I must say I had made sure that I do not set the bar too high in terms of expectations, but WOW!!! My jaws dropped as soon as we finished with the winding roads only to be introduced to a beautiful city of Windhoek, unlike most cities where you have a view far before you enter, Windhoek was like a hidden treasure right in the valley between mountains coming in. Walvis Bay and Swakop were just on another level. I wouldnt mind making it our yearly holiday destination.

My husband and I are thinking to visit Angola. We like to visit random countries that are not very travelled. The only things is I'm craving plantains and breadfruit so I don't know if that's easy to get there, is it? We are in South Korea now but now I'm tired of the food and craving plantains. But I don't want to have to travel back to the south America's or the Caribbean to get plantains or breadfruit. Been thinking about Cameroon too
