I'm going as Technoblade this Halloween. I don't think I could physically stand to go as anyone or anything else. I have debilitating medical conditions, nothing as bad as cancer, but bad enough and in enough of a number to make my life a living hell. Technoblade showed me that even though things look hopeless, that it's okay to keep your head high, and look to the future. Ask for help if you need it, and don't be afraid. Dream SMP was such a fever dream. So much of the story was so ridiculous, but it was delivered with so much passion that you couldn't help but get swept up in it all. I watched so much of it through animatics and techno's streams, it was chaos and excitement. I don't know that anyone will ever replicate this specific brand of entertainment.

the SMP was a bunch of nerds, and Schlatt, roleplaying tv shows and theatre shows. Hamlet, Theseus, Breaking Bad, Hamilton, Jekyll and Hyde, to name a few. The only reason it blew up was Covid 19. None of them could go to college or work. So they streamed together as friends. Tommy and Wilbur started stories and the collective fanbases made it popular. Its no coincidence that when Covid ended, the streams slowly ended too. (and then o7 for Techno).

Coming back to this after hearing about Technoblade's passing. Though I unfortunately only discovered him a month ago due to this post, I wish I had known of him longer. He seems like such a wonderful, witty, amazing content creator, and he has inspired so many people. I know even after death he will continue to lift people up with his videos. As I've seen many say already, he did not lose this battle; the cancer will not live on, but he and his legacy will. Technoblade is victorious and he will never die. I arrived in this fandom a month after techno died. I never knew him when he was alive, but as I got to know more about his channel, comments like these started to hit harder and harder. At the start it felt wrong to watch his goodbye video because I didn't know him, but now I cry whenever I try to watch it. Technoblade is amazing and no one will ever be able to live up to him. But that's the interesting bit, isn't it? A part of him has been immortalized here in the internet, and the more time that passes, more and more people will have similar experiences to me, and they meet someone who is already gone and consequently grieve for them even though their death was one of the first things they learned about that person. Rest in peace Technoblade, and I hope you know that you will impact the lives of people who aren't even born yet. May you have found peace.

No joke, the first time I heard this version of the song, I full blown shuddered at the end of it (which is rare for me when it comes to music). This ballad tells the story of a tired warlord, who returns from the battlefield and decides to start again. And so trades his rule over army's and fields of battle for a rule over beasts of burden and fields of crops. Then one day a man, perhaps a commander of one of his armies stumbles onto his doorstep, speaking of a warrior wrecking havock upon him and his allies. He requests the now-farmers help, and so he picks up the blade he swore to never brandish again, retakes the mantle of warlord, and ride off to protect his friends. When he meets them, he finds them hidden in a cave weary from battle, and low on supplies. He joins their cause, turning the tides and winning the war. Although instead of the free society he was promised would come from their victory, they crown the man who crawled to his door, begging for help, king. Now enraged, he accuses the man of being no better then the warrior they fought against together, stating clearly his contempt of the king and his rule, before returning to his life as a farmer. But soon after his return home he receives a letter from his only ally left, stating that he must flee, for they hunt him for his head on the count of heresy to the throne. And so the man, warlord once more, returns to the lands he ruled in an age long past. It is here he finds an unsuspecting ally, a child whom harbors similar contempt for the throne, and together they plot to overthrow the dictator ruling the land. But as they prepare to mount an assault upon the throne, the boy is swayed against the plans by peers with whom he has stronger ties. The man, remembering his betrayal during the war, turns the forces of the assault upon the child, and those in support of them. And in doing so, becomes the very force he swore to contend upon wielding that fearsome blade again. It is the story of a broken man, not a bad man, nor a good man, but a man broken beyond recognition.
