In a world filled with with bass players trying to sound like somebody else and renounce anything but "fine" bass playing , it's refreshing to see and hear Wojtek being Wojtek, and just slapping the hell out of his bass.

But this *IS* fine bass playing.

@Meshuggah Dave First of all I dig the username Second, you're exactly right. He's using every element at his disposal so well here. He's making it LOOK easy because he's such a master. He knows precisely when to rip and slap like.his life depends on it, and he knows when to back off into the pocket. Ugh seriously good shit.
@MeshuggahDave.3 жыл бұрын
@@45scienceproject ill say one addition, those bends are not all the player. his choice of dunlop super brights is the advantage. the dunlop super brights are so slinky those big E string bends are not as difficult on the right string type. Its good to see a like minded individual. most people want to correct me about this and that. I appreciate your positive response. Cheers

To much technique, to little music itself. Amazing instrumentalist virtuosouse. But its not about how many notes you play but what beauty expression qnd emotion you give. I honor him as master of his instrument but he never touched me as a musician.

This man is a slap god. I love doing it as well, so I relate to him probably picking the bass up and beating it up every day full speed, and also studying on how to turn it into a weapon of a solo that's musical. I noticed the solo had a super statement right at first: E! E! (d-e-E) [then a melodic/technical statement] and really had the layout so perfectly orchestrated, especially with the band shots and his ton and attack, this to me is where it becomes a bit like a musical weapon more than other instruments. It just...slaps the hardest. Not only that it's clear he's studied the crap out of mark king, who is also an exceptional writer who combines crazy jazz fusion slap lines with pop like presentation and high attack. I had seen this ages ago, then had to dig it up and watch it a few times, the solo keeps escalating in such tasteful ways with lots of new ideas. This has to be one of the best slap presentations of all time, but then we got a whooooole whack of debaters that'll condemn me with that one, like wooten or brian bomberg or marcus, or hendrik yadda yadda, bill dickens yes I know. We gotta just appreciate and not compare, it takes a lifetime to get to this level. Well done.
