Bridget sits down with Patrick Ruffini, a Republican pollster and author of Party of the People: Inside the Multiracial Populist Coalition Remaking the GOP. The book explores the transformative political landscape of recent American elections, challenging previous narratives about the Republican Party's demographics and highlighting a significant multi-racial shift in voter preferences, particularly noting how Donald Trump expanded Republican support among African American and Latino voters. Patrick and Bridget discuss what he got right about the 2024 election that everyone else missed, Gen Z's political realignment, suburban women's concerns, working-class voter migrations, the impact of COVID, identity politics agendas in schools, and gender identity debates. They cover the breakdown of traditional political paradigms, why 2020 was supposed to be a return to normal but was actually the opposite, why it felt okay to openly support Trump in this election, the yearning for strong leadership and stability, why Kamala wasn’t a good candidate, why it would have been a disaster for her to go on Joe Rogan’s podcast, and the key polling question that indicated the true direction America was leaning: “How are your neighbors are voting?”

Walk-Ins Welcome with Bridget Phetasy - Podcast
Bridget Phetasy admires grit and authenticity. On Walk-Ins Welcome, she talks about the beautiful failures and frightening successes of her own life and the lives of her guests. She doesn’t conduct interviews-she has conversations. Conversations with real people about the real struggle and will remind you that we can laugh in pain and cry in joy but there’s no greater mistake than hiding from it all. By embracing it all, and celebrating it with the stories she’ll bring listeners, she believes that our lowest moments can be the building blocks for our eventual fulfillment.

I lost friendships that were decades long in the "Great Unfriendings" of 2016 and 2020, people who absolutely knew me, who I had sacrificed for and been there for through all manner of crisis and heartbreaks, etc. All of a sudden, merely disagreeing marked me as some kind of "ist" or other pariah category, and these people evaporated from my life. By 2024, there was no one left to exert any kind of pressure on me, at least no one I could take seriously. The funny part is, I didn't even vote for Trump in 2016. I voted for Johnson.

I hate the woke cult. I don't like their ideas but I could stand people disagreeing with me it's the sanctimony and the hysteria that sickens me.

@@flowermeerkat6827 ...and now it floors me that even with all the cards on the table, the scandals exposed, and the proof that everything currently being enacted is working, so many of them aren't just doubling-down, not just "drinking the blue Kool-Aid," but straight up huffing the Blue Krylon, in opposition to all reality. The mind boggles.

Found Phetasy during the Covid years. Politically Independent since 2000, I have no party loyalty and vote based on the times, the candidates and the issues I see as most important. Have disliked Biden (narcissistic plagiarist/phoney) and Trump (narcissistic bully/con-man) since the '80s. I reluctantly voted for Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024 because in both cases I thought we'd get a return to 'normal'. While Trump stress-tested 'norms' that turned out to be optional, Covid stress-tested the Dems policies and processes, and they blew it early, often and thoroughly. That was the issue I voted on in 2024. (When Trump is seen as a corrective to Trump Derangement Syndrome, you should know you've gone too far to the extremes, but not if you live in echo chambers. However, my closest friend and neighbor is for Trump.) So, it's back to Trump and hoping he's finally done with mean tweets and gets to work. BTW, I'm a childless 60 yo woman in the California Bay Area, formerly in Biotech / Pharma, probably assumed to be a target demographic for Harris. Nope.

Thanks. Most important quote... '(Trump) has to deliver.' I've watched Ruffini since he started in the 2nd Bush years. Very smart, inquisitive and quite humble. Kudo's to you Bridget for having him on, well done.....keep moving forward.

Voted Obama ( 08) because of everything I hated about Bush. Obama didn't fix a thing. The war on terror kept going, the prices of everything got higher, health insurance got worse, and the county was divided on race again. I didn't like Romney/ Ryan so I just voted libertarian. The libertarian party I learned is not a serious party. Trump seemed like a middle finger to the dysfunctional system, so I voted Trump in 16. Also Hillary is a crook and a liar. I've reluctantly voted Trump because Biden and Harris are terrible. It would be like Obamas 4th or 5th term. I just can't vote for this woke nonsense and general insanity. The economy is terrible, the border needs fixed, and our enemies laugh at us. Trump seems like the answer. His first term wasn't terrible. It's much better than what's going on now. Bridget is right. We just want normal. We just want to live our lives. We want the government to quit robbing us and interfering in our lives.

Obama created this police state we live in now, but Bush set the groundwork for it.

Nice conversation getting into some of the details. Really enjoyed the question and answer format. Kamala has no center because she has no personal big picture philosophy that encompasses everything from a top down. So she trips over the small stuff.

Kamala was the perfect candidate with perfect policies that ran the perfect campaign. How could she have lost? (It must be the electorate.)
