We have been enjoying using oyster sauce to garnish our stir fry dishes. I had never even heard of it before I started watching your videos. I particularly like it on fried rice...just a little bit. I, too, more enjoy seasonings, but my husband likes sauces and gravies. I learned how to make homemade sweet and sour sauce which he loves on fried rice. Just discovered your wonderful channel in looking for uses for oyster sauce. Trying to recreate an American-Chinese restaurant favorite in the Detroit, Mi area that had noodles, shrimps, green onions, and topped by a hard boiled egg, swimming in an oyster type sauce that was rather slightly thick. How do I get the volume of sauce needed for this dish without just flavoring a commercial brown sauce with oyster sauce. This combination has a slightly bitter taste as opposed to just using the oyster sauce combination used on Chinese cabbage which is not enough sauce for the dish. Thank you in advance for being there and providing a great tutorial on oyster sauce. I just did not see anything about oyster sauce used on noodles.

Hi, learned so much from channel, I rarely post comments because of scammers out there, butt mentioned oyster sauce has msg, soy, hoisin, Worcestershire sauces ect.. have msg, snacks, fast food, vegetables, fruits, cheeses ect.. have natural msg or added.. even vegetarians get msg. Even food seasoning blends have it, just use fancy names.. unless open a water stand dish will have msg of some kind?? I'd even have the water tested lol, sry did my thesis on msg. So still passionate, going swimming at the ocean the body absorbs msg, even after until shower well. It's just everywhere, tyvm tc

Oyster sauce, no matter what brand, is much too salty for my taste. I made some perfect Lo Mein with vegetables and kicked up large shrimp yesterday. The excellent recipe called for 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce but I added just 1 tablespoon because of the high sodium content. I could barely eat my supper. Gave half of my two person recipe to my neighbor across the hall because she told me she never cooks Chinese food, only treats herself to an occasional restaurant meal out. This morning, the bottle of oyster sauce got 86’d, into the trash.

Recently started using this from lee kum kee (trying the premium one next) as i was trying to recreate a asian dish you can buy here (stir fried vegatables withchicken bean sprouts and mushrooms) and this ended up being the missing flavor component. Its a great sauce and forever on my shopping list. I also have a noodle broth recipe lined up with this as a base. And yes that cans are cheaper (but when investigating the hoisin version i discovered it is not the same product. The small jars or bottles in the case of oister sauce are of a higher concentration. the large cans are diluted and this may seem more economical but bottom line they are not. atleast not here. Other great sauces from lee kum kee are black pepper and black bean sauce. great for stur fry and you need very little of it.
@wokwithtak

Hello, Thank you for your information. I have not compared the difference between the Lee Kum Kee can versus the bottle oyster sauce. At first glance, they did not seem to be different to me. I need to take a closer look in the near future. If that is the case, I wonder why they formulate it differently.
@pino_de_vogel
@pino_de_vogel 4 жыл бұрын
@@wokwithtak what i noticed was that the large can has a different viscosity when i grabbed it. It was thinner. The jars are more like a paste. So then i checked the ingredients which here in europe are quire detailed and noted it was different. It was also in a store meant for restaurants. Maby it ir ready to use where the jars can be thinned before use. Your oyster sauce also seems thinner then the one i bought in a bottle. I cant check that one as they only sell the hojsin as a can here but if i ever see it i will check. Anyway keep up the good videos and have a great weekend.

@@moonshadow3559 One of my favorite is stirfry veggies and chicken (but yu can leave the chicken out if your one of those lol) with a tablespoon of oister sauce a tablesppoon of garlic paste a veggy stock cube and some pepper and make a sauce with a bit of corn starch. Always a winner. my favorite veggies are bell pepper, broccoli, onion, sweet peas, snow peas, bean sprouts, carrot. but a lot more options are out there. If i don't know what to use sauce wise that is my go to as it never dissapoints. Ofc tune the amounts to your liking ;) and to how many people you cook for. i like it potent and cook for 2.
