"Swallowtail" is sung by Joel Amey, the drummer. He has a fantastic voice, and is also an excellent guitarist. (I just talked to Joel after three shows last week. Very nice and genuine guy.)

You struck a gold mine dude LOL this band is actual perfection. By the way, the deluxe version of this album has 13 more tracks... it's basically an entirely second half to the album and its amazIng! Do a part 2!!
@supernormal11432 жыл бұрын
I saw that, its a wildly long deluxe version! I will have to do their second album first, but if I can resist listening to those songs beforehand I might just do a part 2.😂
@MatterShim2 жыл бұрын
@@supernormal1143 It's so worth it. I don't know how they chose which songs to be on the main album because they're all so good. You'll love Visions of a Life too, it's like a perfect mixture of My Love Is Cool and Blue Weekend.

The version I have also has Moaning Lisa Smile and White Leather on it.

Yeah, they’re all great tracks! I’m not sure if you know but 8 of the tracks actually come from their two early EPs, Blush and Creature Songs, both of which are great, particularly Creature Songs, which I think is incredible. Moaning Lisa Smile, Storms and Heavenly Creatures in particular are just amazing. Wolf Alice are truly an incredible band!
@brendantoungate82872 жыл бұрын
Moaning Lisa Smile is one of my favorite Wolf Alice tracks. The fact that it's not even on any original album release is an incredible statement of how good Wolf Alice is.

I love their early grimey punk/indie rock sound on this album. Your Love's Whore is the song that started it all for me. What an intro that just draws you in. Ellie's voice is just haunting at times but can bring that punk-edge scream at others. A very rare band where you can say all the members play an important role and would lack if not for their presence. They are even better live so I guarantee you will enjoy their show! By far one of the best bands going today!

Hi. The name of the band is taken from the short story The Wolf-Alice by Angela Carter. It’s about a girl who is raised by wolves, and other beasts👍

I saw them twice on their first tour. Small venue, excellent acoustics and my favorite band of the decade. I'm also a big Angelina Jordan, Feli Kuti and Joy Division fan, so much great music in our lives, and past lives😊

Knew you would like " Your Love's Whore" That song was my introduction to the Band, I saw the short set they did at KEXP in Seattle and that song blew my mind. Well worth a watch. Hopefully Joff is back in the Band when you go to see them. I'm seeing them again in June at Red Rocks. FYI Swallowtail is Joel Amey the drummer singing. I think he wrote it as well.

I have watched a few live performances of them lately but I kind of want to save it until I get to see it in person. Fingers crossed he is either back or the fill in is excellent.

You won't hear the early songs on this tour, with the exception of "Silk". But these shows are still awesome! (Just saw them in St. Louis, Austin, and Dallas.)

Great job man, I've loved this band since first hearing the Blush EP and I'm so happy that they are getting the success and recognition they deserve, especially since they are also such great people. I've loved watching you discover them with 'Blue Weekend' and now this, can't wait for 'Visions of a Life'.

Hope you get time to do Visions of a Life as well sometime. The first 4 tracks were a new level of variety even for Wolf Alice! And that’s the album that won the UK’s top music award The Mercury Prize👍

Really enjoyed the video man! I've loved Wolf Alice for a few years now and has been really fun watching your reactions and remembering how I experienced this album for the first time. Every song feels like a belter and I didn't have the words to describe how much I loved it all. If you're open to suggestions, check out an album called The Big Roar by The Joy Formidable!

This guys reaction to Bros and You're a Germ are priceless. This is how I feel every day banging this out in the car, driving home from work. You don't have to be loved by the masses to be awesome but they've already won a Mercury Prize and a Brits award. Best we have in the UK at the mo, but if you want to listen to something a bit out there, try Wet Leg. They may be a bit marmite to most people though

Great reaction! Hopefully you’ll get around to reacting to Visions Of A Life at some point, which is not only my favourite Wolf Alice album but also my favourite album of the 2010s! Also, don’t sleep on their two early EPs, Blush and Creature Songs, the latter is superb and it’s actually my joint favourite Wolf Alice project so far (tied with VOAL of course). I hope you enjoy seeing them live, I saw them in London back in February and it was amazing! Just subscribed btw 😄

😮 If Visions of A Life is better than Blue Weekend I dont know what I'll do with myself. I will have to do the reaction soon because I will want to listen to it before I see them so I will know the songs.
@MarkS_213772 жыл бұрын
@@supernormal1143 I wouldn’t say it’s a better album as such, but I personally prefer it, it’s a bit darker and heavier than Blue Weekend. Yeah, make sure you listen to it before the gig because they are guaranteed to play at least 3 or 4 songs from it. Also, make sure you listen to the iconic Moaning Lisa Smile too (their first big hit, pre-My Love Is Cool) because they will definitely be playing that too!

You'll enjoy "Play The Greatest Hits" when seeing them live...you could say Ellie lets loose on that one. Hopefully Joff, their lead guitarist is back by then, but you know what? They still sound pretty damn good even without him... but of course no one can take his place.
@supernormal11432 жыл бұрын
what happened to Joff?
@bksheba2 жыл бұрын
@@supernormal1143 Joff is fine, but he's been back in England for like 3 weeks due to an illness in his family. That's why they've had fill-in lead guitarist for this U.S. tour.
@Bucboy10012 жыл бұрын
I saw them kick off their US tour in Florida and while they were still great, man did I miss Joff for some songs. He is such an integral part when it comes to setting the vibe, his guitar tone is so unique and you notice when it's missing.

I can't think of anyone quite like Wolf Alice to recommend to you since they create a category all their own. I'm not sure of all of your music preferences but I'll gladly list a few albums of various styles that their entirety shaped my personal taste. Hopefully you're not too familiar with some of these! Sound & Color - Alabama Shakes (blues rock) Little Neon Limelight - Houndmouth (folk rock) Bankrupt! - Phoenix (synth pop) (let Drakkar Noir fade into Chloroform) Reptilians - STRFKR (electronic indie) Hurry Up, We're Dreaming - M83 (synth pop) ...Like Clockwork - Queens of the Stone Age (desert rock) How to Be a Human Being - Glass Animals (indie rock) Water Your Garden - Magic City Hippies (indie funk)
