Quebec did the same thing as B.C. is now doing, but perhaps not on the same scale. Habitat loss is the primary reason Caribou are disappearing. You cannot give out cutting permits right and left on the forests which the Caribou need to use to survive. I witnessed little calves with heavy collars put around their necks, just stumbling around after their mothers here in Quebec. In B.C from the air and from the water, I saw fringes of trees left standing along the highways, but behind vast amounts of clear cutting was taking place. Habitat loss is the greatest threat to Caribou and both governments know it, but the scapegoat, as usual, are the predators.

Thats how nature works, but when we intervene, we can't do a half job ad ruin the ecosystem, we have to mae it balanced again, and to all of you who will say why did the wolves get pushed there? Caribou and Moose populations have dropped down to almost nothing causing tribes to have to travel farther and farther, with no guarantee of being able to feed their families. Thousands of years ago, wolves were prey to to other now extinct animals, and their numbers were kept in check. Man took over that role starting probably 10,000 years ago until recently. Wolves have always had to breed prolifically to survive. Their predators are gone, but their reproductive rate is still very high. If we allow them to become overpopulated, they will eat every single deer, moose, elk, and caribou within a few short years. Other great predators like puma, lynx, bobcat, and bear will also suffer because of wolf overpopulation.

Never gonna happen. Think for a second men, wolves have been here for at least 100 000 years and haven’t wątek everything cause they would just died out of hunger in prehistory if it would have happen. So the answer is just no, never gonna happen.

Where all hunting & fishing equipment & licenses has an 11% tax , bringing the gov billions of $$ annually . The fund was established for the welfare undulant wildlife & That money is earmarked for - wildlife habitat enhancement & restoration. For the gov to use it in any other venture is THEFT !! Notice that the wolf lovers don't have any alternative measures that can be taken to save these caribou. Wolves need to be managed, period.

Let the animals sort it out on their own. They've been fending for themselves for thousands of years. Wolves are apex predators who kill off sick, weak and old members of deer herds, helping to keep the populations healthy... Do you think it may be possible that they know something about the herds of caribou that we don't....maybe there is something wrong with the herds of caribou in the Northeast BC and the wolves are just sorting it, as they've been doing for a millennia.
@Amidat9 жыл бұрын
exactly - animals have been sorting it out for thousands of years... that's how God created it... humans were supposed to manage the ecosystem - but our greed and lust destroyed it instead.

I’m going to say this cause it needs to be said. Wolves need management. I am in no way saying wipe them out no and if you want to wipe them out I don’t associate myself with you. However like all animals sometimes things get out of hand and the balance of nature gets out of hand. Human visitation has helped wolf numbers for years and as a results the population is thriving but at the cost of the Caribou. Just like how when coyote populations threaten the deer this needs to be addressed. If you love wolves I can’t blame you I do too their amazing animals but they do need to be managed to keep the environment balanced.

VICTOR SANCHEZ, then you should learn how to stop paying taxes. I've already learned how. Government only exists because they force people to pay them, and government is the one who's creating the environments that harm the wildlife. So if more people choose not to pay taxes, then government can't hire as many thugs to do their evil bidding. I can teach you how to now pay, if you're interested.

Why doesn't the government just relocate the wolves obviously the caribou are declining because the government is making it happen by keeping oil fracking and oil mining going, just relocate.They destroy the caribous habitat. The wolves have done nothing but kill 2 caribou, they need to survive to.There is a over growing deer population in N.B. relocate them there its a simple job turning into a big deal the wolves are not common in the world. its just not right.
