Mexican gray wolf Trumpet has some lunch guests!
Ravens and wolves have a special relationship. Called “wolf birds” by various cultures, ravens have important ties to wolves. Wolves even appear to tolerate ravens as dinner companions!
This Mexican gray wolf family represents the Wolf Conservation Center's participation in the active effort to to save their species from extinction.
The WCC, a 501c3 non-profit organization in South Salem, NY, is one of a network of facilities participating in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan - a bi-national initiative whose primary purpose is to support the reestablishment of Mexican gray wolves in the wild through captive breeding, public education, and research.

Ravens and crows love pulling other animals by the tail, usually to distract them from food. But sometimes they'll do it even when there's no food around, just for fun. Though they're much more careful around wolves.

@@theemptyone7650 In the wild wolves and ravens sometimes hunt cooperatively. While ravens do aerial reconnaissance, wolves follow their calls until they are led to the large prey. Later they all share the bounty. Wolves get first dibs of course, but it's to mutual benefit in the end.

My boy Odin gets raw, meaty marrow bones- every day- Most people have NO IDEA- How VITAL, not only in terms of micronutrients, marrow fats, etc bones are, But the NATURAL RELAXING / THERAPEUTIC “pulling” and gnawing on bones is for all dogs. My boy Odin is medium / medium high content Wolf (Tundra on father’s, Arctic on mother’s) and he truly loves his bones. He usually gets 2-3 bones a day - but all totaled, it’s about 1/2 the size of the bone this majestic lovely is chewing on. GIVE RAW BONES - NEVER- NEVER - NEVER - EVER- under ANY circumstance- Give cooked bones of any type. I choose NOT to feed Odin whole quail or raw chicken et al with bones.. Not worth the risk. He gets pleanty by gnawing on the bones after he’s extracted the marrow. Feed your loved 🥰 friends- quality, RAW beef bones.

@Pleiadian Sagittarius A The Mexican Wolf has been a protected species since 1977. Their numbers are increasing in Arizona and New Mexico. The US government isn't killing them. Get your "facts" straight!
@tbauer2521
@tbauer2521 3 жыл бұрын
@Pleiadian Sagittarius A I live in Wisconsin. I would never want wolves extinct, but we have way too many wolves, especially in Northern Wisconsin the deer herd has had a very tough time since wolves were reintroduced. In the winter, deer don't have a chance. Our wolf numbers have been steadily increasing. WDNR estimates 1050 animals. I don't believe that number because they can't possibly count them all. When wolves were reintroduced in Wisconsin the goal was 250 animals, that is what was promised to the people. Even if they say we're at 250 animals, there will always be more not counted. 250 animals is reasonable. Well over 1,000 is not. We are at least FOUR times over the management goal. Wolves will kill everything they can and move to another area as they need to. That's why some have such large ranges. Watch the video of the wolf pack that killed 100 mature bull elk. One Hundred. All in basically one day. The ones they didn't feel like killing that day, they hamstrung. The hamstrung bulls suffered through the night unable to run. The wolves did this so they could kill them the next day. The video was out there. Maybe it still is, but it is troubling to watch, probably more like sickening. They couldn't possibly eat them all. They killed them because they could, for sport. That's what happens when there are too many wolves. It doesn't need to go that far. Everything on this earth, whether you eat meat or not, takes resources on this planet from everything else.. Has anyone asked the deer how many wolves is enough? Have you watched a dog/coyote/wolf kill a large animal in person? I have. It's anything but merciful. I think there should be a balance between how much prey wolves are to consume and leave some for the rest of the food chain. I know the deer would take their chances with hunters, because once a wolf cuts their track, they are dead. The wolf may he the most intelligent four legged animal. It's also possibly the most effective killing machine, it's what they do. We're at Four times management goals. Best for the circle of life to get back to that. Just like most things, there will be people that say no wolves should be killed. There will be people that say they all should be killed. The solution is nearly Always somewhere between, which is where I firmly stand.
@tbauer2521
@tbauer2521 3 жыл бұрын
@A salty Saxon then you read it thanks. I don't have any desire to shoot a wolf from a helicopter, so why would I say it? I don't have any desire to kill one at all. I DO think they need to managed. Our state has over 5 times the amount of wolves agreed upon by biologists prior to reintroduction. I make decisions with facts and logic, not emotions. Sorry
@tbauer2521
@tbauer2521 3 жыл бұрын
@A salty Saxon when wolves were to reintroduced into my state, it was not me that stated management goals. Highly trained wildlife biologists defined goals. The goal was 250 animals. Last I looked Dnr numbers were over 1050 wolves. There can only be more. I find it unrealistic that they can count even 90% of wolves, 75% is probably feasible. I'm not against wolves, they are a piece of nature. I also do not make my decisions on emotions, but facts. State wildlife experts suggested a goal of 250 animals. Who here knows better than them, in the state they live in? No one. I'm fine with 250 wolves. I'm not fine with 4 or 5 times that. Anyone that believes having 4 times numbers of an apex predator suggested by biologists is good is either thinking with emotion or not thinking at all. Wolves are wolves. If left unchecked their numbers will grow and they will kill until there's nothing left to kill. When the prey is gone, they move on. No reason to let it go that far. Why is everyone so worried a out wolves, what about the other animals? How many have watched dogs or wolves run a deer to death? The deer runs until it's exhausted and collapses. Then they eat the deer alive while the deer looks around at what's happening to them. Something bigger like a herd of elk, if wolves don't feel like killing them all, they will hamstring them, keeping them alive. The elk will suffer for a day or two, not being able to run. Then when the wolves feel like it, they'll finish them off. Pretty glamorous huh? Biologists in my state say there is too many wolves in my state, they are experts in the matter. I agree with them. In the state I pay taxes in, there are too many wolves. Expert opinion, not just mine.
@tbauer2521
@tbauer2521 3 жыл бұрын
@A salty Saxon anyone that claims watching an animal die like that is glamorous should be ashamed of themselves. Is it the circle of life? Yes. Glamorous not. You've made it clear you're not logical enough to have input of value on the matter. I would never want to see wolves be killed the way they kill. I sure wouldn't call it glamorous. It's also really clear you care less about wildlife than I do.
