You know.... Now that Vscript is a thing, we could re-introduce the grenades and most of the other features inside the game and post it on the workshop, like a bundle of recreation of the early map layouts with the pre-released weapon sets only, no hats or unlockables, just the old unreleased content. I am no game dev, but troughout the years, we managd to find pretty much all of the animation files, models particles and sounds, so it would technically be possible, a brand new gamemode we could call "Blast from the Past"

Imo the grenades would be neat if they worked like the already existing throwables in live tf2 where they take up a weapon slot and had a recharge after use. “Do you want the healing of Mad Milk or the mobility of the Concussion Grenade?” Stuff like that.

While interesting, let's not forget that the gameplay is NOT design for grenade use. This could be a major issue during gameplay, there's a reason Valve removed them rather than balance them. That being said, I'll check Pre-Fortress 2 anyway to see how well this works.

I get that the grenades are kept on the classes that were originally meant to have them, but I really think that some of these would fit better on the other classes, the Caltrops would be fit better with Sniper, as he can lay them near a corner as an alarm to people approaching him, and it fits with him being a Bushman, or the EMP for Spy

I kinda like the idea of grenades. Although I don't think frags should be able to be used for grenade jumping (that's basically like giving every class the ability to rocketjump, which brings up a whole mess of balance issues) the grenades seem like they fit the class role pretty well. I feel like the napalm grenade really gives pyro that power bump he desperately needs, giving him a cheap and easy source of area control.

@wolfcl0ck2 жыл бұрын
We had a lot of work put into making sure nade jumping was pretty well balanced during the development of 0.7. Heavy, for example, has an incredibly reduced nade jump. Other classes like medic, sniper, and spy received a huge health vulnerability as a result of using their grenades (for a while, sniper's grenade actually just killed him.) It's definitely a high-risk-high-reward system, but the classes that benefit the most from grenade jumps are mostly the same ones that have equivalent movement options in retail (soldier, demo, pyro, medic.)
