Wait cottonee is kinda hype though, I could definitely see a situation when it comes back in the dlc where it might be more prefarable than whimsicott.
@rainbowturtle Жыл бұрын
The issue with Cottonee is that it doesn't have Tailwind as of gen 8. If it gets it back it'll be worth looking into, but boosting teams have already had some counters worked around due to Dondozo, meaning you don't have as much support power through stuff like safeguard swagger like you used to.
@browserjunior4707 Жыл бұрын
@@rainbowturtle Considering how Tailwind is a TM in Gen 9 and the fact cottonee itself could learn tailwind itself in a previous generation, it makes sense for Cottonee to relearn Tailwind once re-introduced back in Gen 9, unless they pull a BDSP and prevent Pokémon from learning Toxic like Heatran
@rainbowturtle Жыл бұрын
@Browser Junior that's an assumption that we can't really make, especially since the leaks (at least ones I have seen) haven't had anything on DLC mons so we don't know their new/returning moves. We do know stuff that can be transfered through home when it opens 5/29 though, and cottonee/whims are not on that list (although they are in the dlc)
@browserjunior4707 Жыл бұрын
@@rainbowturtle Fair but I mean Tailwind was a move tutor move for Cottonee specifically in Gen 5 so it’s very likely it is legal and can be learned through tm. Whimsicott learned it naturally at 28/1 and Cottonee only learned it when it was a tutor move. Considering it now is a TM it’s likely they won’t change it

9:21 Just a little correction: the effect of Eviolite isn't the same as multiplying their base Defense and Special Defense by 1.5, because Eviolite also multiplies the flat EV boost to those stats. Strangely enough, even strong Pokémon with downsides can fit this as well. Take Weavile in Gen 8 Ubers. It might have had 100 less base points than most Ubers and was utterly frail, but Dark/Ice STAB at its height meant no popular Pokémon withstood both its STABs and there was no held item gimmick save Zamazenta-Crowned and it outspeeds most legendaries.

the eviolite boost is actually larger than the one shown at 9:20 - eviolite grants a boost to the raw stat, not the base stat, which converts to an actually larger base bulk than if the base stats were multiplied as an example, azumarill has a base stat of 50 - a max of 218 at level 100 or 112 at level 50. if huge power doubled the base stat, that would make a base stat of 100 - max of 328 at level 100 or 167 at level 50. but since it doubles the raw stat, that's a maximum 436 at level 100 or 224 at level 50, roughly 149 base attack, almost tripling the base stat as for cottonee itself, its base bulk with eviolite would go from base 60 def 50 spdef to base 100 def 86 spdef

thanks for explaining. i was scratching my brain why that tiny boost mattered, especially since cotonee had 20 less base HP

Cottonee using Swagger on partners with Safeguard active is literally Cottonee being its partner's biggest hype-man.

I'm so glad Shedinja isn't in SV It would just be straight up broken if it had tera Electic, holding an Air Balloon, and you didn't have a Pokemon with like Sandstorm or Will-O-Wisp

5:53 Strangely? I mean, Gengar is posed as if it stands/walks & is shown on the ground in-games, unlike the anime, where it floats, but Gastly & Haunter float & are lighter to an extreme; It doesn't seem that strange to me why they kept Levitate.

Has anyone else ever wondered how good or bad an offensive or speed variation of eviolite would be competitive? Haunter is a good example for this as the defensive boost is practically useless.

Yeah I knew Eevee was powerful with it's Z-move but winning with it in a tournament is awesome & gives bragging rights even if no one wants to hear it.

That Cottonee thing is some 400 IQ level brilliancy. Might as well use the pre-evolution so that you get can get the pre-evolution bonus, since Focus Sash needs to go elsewhere anyways.

I love that when Shedinja is talked about megalovania plays 1 hp and can't be hit sounds familiar
