Correction: Mozart was not born in Salzburg, Austria since Salzburg was not yet under the soverignity of Austria when he was born. Salzburg was only annexed on Mar. 12, 1938.

As great as a piece like Eine Kleine Nachtmusik"is, this is not even his best serenade. There are 2 or 3 of even more grandeur such as the Haffner or Posthorn. Mozart mastered every genre of classical music; symphonies, operas, sonatas, concertos, divertimentos, serenades, chamber, choral, mass, sacred. There is something about a Mozart piece that can drawl you to tears by its beauty and expressiveness.....of longing....something that goes deep into your soul. Beethoven can also do that for me.

Twinkle Twinkle was K. 265, and the variations were written by Mozart, but the original piece was a french song. He wrote 12 Variations on it. So yes, we do know if he composed Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the answer is he didnt.
