Moved from LA in '64 600 miles north and I could get XERB at night on a little transistor radio and when they went to 100,000 watts he was getting callers from Spokane Washington! There will never be anybody like The Wolfman baby, nobody, never, nohow.

Me and my 'buds' used to listen to 'The Wolfman' in the 60s-70s in LA. He used to broadcast out of Rosarita Beach just south of the Cal/Mex border. Man, those were some great times! Thanks for posting this!

Had me a solid state wide band radio black with leather cover which sat on my project desk in my bedroom. I found the Wolfman on late every night in southern California in the early seventies. One night some young girl called in and said I love you Wolfman and he replied back, the Wolfman loves you too darling then he dedicated a song to her. The Wolfman was different in a way that made him feel like family without ever knowing the dude. He was just so down to earth and real on the radio.

Everything Wolfman did was great, but when we were cruising the Blvd on .23 cent a gallon gasoline, the prank calls he made live on the air were the best! Back in the 80's The Wolfman kept us truckers alive at night as we followed the white line across the nation. His signal was booming across the USA from down in Mexico. Thanks to the Wolfman for the great sounds and memories.

I had heard that no one would hire him as a D J because his voice was too raspy. So he bought an old radio station out in the boonies in Mexico for a few dollars. It was so far off the beaten path that you needed a jeep to get to it. He got it fired up and the signal could reach Southern CA and Southern Arizona. After a few months or so of broadcasting, the folks in those areas began grooving on him. That got him a job in L A. Don't know how much of that is true, but it is intriguing. I miss his voice. Love his -- ALRIGHT ALRIGHT IT''s the WOLFMAN coming at you baby.. OUUUUUUUUH ..

Every now and then there comes along that special person that cannot be imitated or copied. Wolfman was a very unique person in that he spoke to us kids like we meant something to society and a time when kids were only to be heard when spoken to. He never judged anyone and never inflamed anyone's persoanl beliefs or dreams. Just wanted to "live and let live." Enjoy your youth. You only get one shot at it.
