this is a good tutorial..I've wanting to dive into this to but had a drawback because of the complicated looking jigs! ...but you made them look retevlly easy to make ...thank you I'll be trying my hand at it too.

They’re made by Bessey. Lee Valley Tools sells them in several different configurations

I have done Kumiko for years. This sled is the way. You can layout your frame cuts with the stops. I tape multiples of 8 strips together (on one side) and cut several stacks at the same time. I bolt this type of jig to a very small sled. The sled is wide, but not deep.

When I make more of these lamps, I'm going to modify my workflow to be more efficient. I really like the idea of taping strips together and cutting them. - Ed

Why do the angled guide blocks have a groove in the bottom? 💖🌞🌵😷

A lot of people make these blocks with 2 different angles on them, one on the “top” and one on the “bottom”. The other possibility is that while the groove is being routed, it just makes sense to do both sides so that you have an other side for future use. All you have to do is cut whatever angle you want on it when the time comes!
