So nice seeing Brian Norcross again. He was a true hero before and during Andrew. I was 6 at the time, 40 miles north of the eye in Deerfield Beach. Andrew will be something I never forget.

Thank you for posting this. My family and I lived in Cutler Ridge. We evacuated and went to my cousins house in Tampa. This is the first time i've seen this footage.

I was working at MAJIC 102.7 and we had Bryan, Tony and Kelly on the TV all night with us while we were on the air on an all-nighter. A scary and unforgettable night. Incredible work by the WTVJ crew that night. it got real when they had to huddle in the storage closet. Bryan saved a lot of lives.

Brian Norcross really had a VERY strong regard for making sure people were safe and that nobody was injured or killed in the storm. Very rare with local newscasters these days.

I remember watching this live. We had power throughout the storm. It got scary for a lot of people when the news anchors went to bunker down.

Hurricane Andrew hit my first week of freshman year ar USF. We drove back home to South Florida to check on family and friends in Kendall a couple days after it hit. Alot of the beautiful homes in West Kendall were all gone. Beyond wild and horrible. All of us South Floridian genxers will never forget Andrew.

I was 16 yrs old at my grandmothers along with my parents and sisters. We had a great time waiting Andrew out. When the wind started picking up and made it's entrance it told you " I'm here!". We were not in the homestead area but by the airport.

Bryan Norcross still working at 71 years old. Back then I wasn’t living in Florida, so I never saw Andrew and the horrible destruction he left.

I was 5 years old living in South Miami with my grandparents when Andrew showed up that night. I actually slept a little bit through the storm, but a loud boom woke me up. I didn't know what was going on until I peeked outside the window. Sure enough I saw a lot of debris and chairs flying around, then the power went out. This coverage kept us informed but from our area all the way to Homestead, we got the worst part of the storm. After Andrew left, our family went outside and couldn't believe what we were seeing. It literally looked like a bomb went off.

I find this so fascinating. I wasn't born for another almost 12 years following this. I moved to Florida in 2012 and shortly after became obsessed with weather (I always had a fascination but I became far more interested around the age of 9. Particularly with tornadoes and hurricanes).

I’d be scared stiff. I can’t imagine what it was like to go through this. I live in Florida and my area was spared when Irma came through. We got lucky. VERY lucky.

Tampa Bay Lightning Same. Irma was the first hurricane that actually scared me, even though I have lived in north Florida all my life. Even Matthew was a breeze compared to Irma. I live on the west side of Jacksonville near the river. The winds got pretty bad, and I was petrified most of the night hearing things slam around outside. However, when it was all over, we had nothing but a little debris in the yard, no damage whatsoever. Meanwhile, just a few blocks over, tornadoes touched down and brought down huge trees. Downtown was flooded badly. I came through unscathed. I won’t be arrogant about it though. When they say leave, I’m leaving.

These anchors and live field reporters were brave AF! Especially the field reporters who are in the middle of it. IDK of those professional men and women do that kind of reporting in the midst of a horrendous natural disaster. Respect.

Hi, I wanted to spend a week holiday in Fort Lauderdale when Andrew hit the area. I ended up for 48 hours in a shelter, where I slept most times (no oxygin because the shelter had no windows and we were not allowed to open the door - the place was packed with people from around the area, incl from Haiti - watching TV permanently and seeing their homes destroyed). We were provided with sandwiches and juice, bathrooms were terribly dirty. Anyway, sfter the hurrican we were happy to be alive and I have met life long friend.....

What are differences between Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Andrew and the famous Titanic disaster: are they different or similar?

Andrew was a direct hurricane. Katrina was bad because their levy fell apart and flooded also people in the super dome were raped and harassed. Was horrible

Even a storm with less impact than Andrew (such as Irma last year) can interrupt power for substantial periods of time. Hurricanes are serious!
