Be sure to visit the Milwaukee Public Museum and check out "Streets of Old Milwaukee" exhibit in the next year or two if you can! The museum is moving to a brand-new building in 2026 and won't be taking a number of its classic and iconic exhibits with them because they're literally built *into* the old building itself, and the Streets of Old Milwaukee is one of them, unfortunately. It's been the most popular part of the whole museum since it first opened back in the 1960s and everyone is bummed it won't be making the transition to the new location. So go and see it while you still can!

I agree that it gets pretty cold in Milwaukee during winter. I live in the suburbs but I'm a city girl at heart. I stay at hotels on downtown Water Street a lot. I walk everywhere in the winter. Leon's custard is good, but I like the daily rotation of flavors they offer at Kopp's. Sprecher makes soft drinks AND beer, and they offer tours. I'm surprised you didn't mention the Miller brewery tour; it's interesting to see production on a mass scale. In late June there's the Downer Classic bicycle race through the streets of the Downer Avenue neighborhood on the (north) Eastside. The Wisconsin State Fair takes place in adjacent West Allis in early August. For different eats, try the Serbian food at Three Brothers or the Vietnamese at Hué, both in the Bayview neighborhood (SE side) which has lots of other cool shops and restaurants. Lastly, when a Milwaukee hotel employee asked where I was from, I laughingly said, "Oh, I'm a FIB" (which BTW actually stands for F***ing Illinois B******). He got a little red in the face, laughed, and said, "You're not supposed to know about that." Wisconsinites have a love/hate relationship with Illinoisans. They love the money we spend in their state, but they hate our aggressive driving and attitude. If you remember to dial it down several notches, be "Midwestern nice," and DON'T DISS THE PACKERS you'll be okay.

As a local Milwaukeean There's few things to talk about that you started on, but went no where near. *1* The Beaches - We have more beaches than the cement path you showed behind the art museum. Bradford Beach is just down the road and it's world class. South Shore Beach/park is one of the best lakefront areas to take your family to. Ok fine, don't go in the water there, but the park itself is amazing and it's got a great beer garden. DOn't forget about Doctors park, Grant Park (7 bridges), and the other amazing parks up down the shoreline. *2* Markets - We have more than the public Market. DOn't get me wrong, I love the Public Market, but there are so much more. The neighborhoods in Milwaukee love their local shops. I've been going to Groppi's in Bay View for 40 years it's changed a lot in that time but its still got the feel of the old polish market it once was. *3* Sure the winters are cold, but we still know how to have fun when it snows. Don't just come when the weather is nice. Visit us for our winter events too! No one has more fun than someone with a cold beer and freshly baked giant pretzel in a foot of snow. *4* Visit everywhere. This video shows about a 5 mile radius in Milwaukee, but there is so much more. Our neighborhoods are all different with with different vibes and you really should check them all out. From Downtown to Harambe, to Greendale, to Shorewood. Take it all in! *5* We are the epitome of Midwest nice. Grab a seat fill your glass and lets have a good time! There are no strangers in the 414 (unless you're a Bears fan).

I was just in Milwaukee a couple months ago so I immediately recognized the pink birdies in the thumbnail and when I realized it was also a Wolter's World video, even better. 😊 You can also go inside the historic City Hall and the Basilica of Saint Josephat huge church room. The most impressive thing for me about the city are the Urban Ecology Centers(3 total) that are community areas that work to preserve the natural environment and also act as a lounge or place to learn and volunteer for anyone who wants to. I also checked out the Gordon Bath House ruins from when German was the most spoken language in the city in the late 1800s. Only the front wall remains as a buffer between the building and the Milwaukee River although the river was quite far away so I'm not sure if it was just low tide, if the river has moved, or the water levels are lower now

The thing I love about Milwaukee is that it will basically always exceed people’s expectations because it’s got such a poor reputation. Compare that to a city like Paris that people have overly romanticized into such an amazing place that when they do visit it almost seems like a let down. With Milwaukee most people go in expecting very little and are then pleasantly surprised by what the city actually offers.
