Here is an option for anyone wanting to visit Jackson. If you would like to visit and not burn a hole in your pocket stay in Pinedale, Wyoming which is about a 1:45 minute drive to get to Jackson. It's a beautiful drive. Then you can just spend the entire day in Jackson. Again, it's just an option. Safe Travels either way.

I live in Evanston, WY in the southwest corner of Wyoming. We go to Jackson and Yellowstone all the time. I have a tip to viewing the Tetons. Find out what time the sun rises. Head out an hour before sunrise and situate yourself in one of the pulls outs just off the highway with a great view. When the sun rises and turns the tips of the Tetons a beautiful pinkish yellow, you will know it was worth it... bring a coat. Also, most beautiful time to go to Yellowstone is mid-September. The colors change early there.

@@alisonstroud1653 I LOVE summer in Wyoming and early autumn. However, winter temperatures regularly get down to -28.9°C and have even been know to get as low as -40°C. The cold, combined with the winds we have here, make winter and spring not so desirable. We experienced snow this year in mid-June, as well as mid-September. It was brutal! Another thing to know about Wyoming, is that if you are just driving on I-80 (the main highway through the state), Wyoming looks quite boring and not very pretty to many people, but there are many beautiful locations throughout the state. If you have the time, in addition to Wyoming, please take the time to visit the beautiful National Parks in Utah. Arches is stunning! Also, don’t miss Goblin Valley. It feels like you step out of your car and onto the moon! So many diverse landscapes in Utah. I could go on and on. Just be sure to do your research. Watch KZbin videos and even look on Pinterest for travel location ideas to get the most out of your vacation. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Traveled to Jackson, WY in June this past year. The early morning temperature was at 36 degrees. Rose to 70. Now I don’t know if it was the time of year but the prices were not bad. Hotel was affordable in the downtown area, plenty of parking, and able to walk in to a restaurant. Of course, what I did during my time was drive to Bozeman, MT from Jackson and that was the most beautiful drive I have ever taken.

All reasonable advice for Jackson. I'd add a few. Don't be afraid to walk places. Driving around Jackson can be a pita. If it's tourist season finding parking can be a nightmare. The town is small enough that you can walk almost anywhere in a reasonable time. If your budget is tight, there are places to eat that don't blow the budget, but they're not going to be near the town square. If you're visiting the parks, don't sleep in, get up early and get into the parks EARLY. The big attractions in GT and YS get busy FAST!

Wolters World, you have some very great tips on visiting Jackson. Especially booking early, making reservations and giving the wildlife their space. Things to note; if you don't book early, don't expect to camp in your RV or vehicle overnight as it's illegal within the town limits. Booking early also applies to some of the RV parks and finding a campsite in the national forest can be tricky if you don't arrive super early. Respecting the wildlife, thank you so much for commenting on this!! The wildlife here are so magnificent and they do require space. Too often we find tourists standing within 5 feet of a moose to take a selfie...while they may leave this unscathed, moose can be incredibly aggressive when pushed too far. Driving at night, watch for the wildlife, this is not the time to take your eyes off the road for a second, they cross the highways a great deal. Moose and buffalo are super hard to see at night. Finally, the traffic. Since Jackson Hole has become such a popular destination, the highways have become unbelievably busy especially during commuter hours. People still work here and must commute from outlying areas into work. This can cause traffic delays up to half an hour at times possibly more depending on the amount of traffic. If you're headed back from the park for a dinner reservation, plan ahead for traffic delays. Great video!! :)

This was about the most inspiring travel to America clip I think I've seen... Ever.. first introduction to food I would actually eat , you filmed real hopes in a location for the authenticity of the historical and the functions of a tourism industry and locals making that happen... I'm not a ski enthusiast nor care for nature walks but the way you captured that area made me feel like I just wanted a big deep breath of that mountain air , that misty clearing morning clarity and a sense of fulfillment from having long distance imaginations all the way from Australia just wondering how accurately my mind's eye can match what I one day hope to see for myself. Then I'll think back to this comment and marry up my inspired line to my impressions when I'm finally there at Jackson.. Wyoming here I come ...whoooo

Been there. Beautiful area, high priced, large animals, larger mountains. Don't expect the hotels to have elevators. Don't expect all the people working in the restaurants and shops to be locals. Don't expect to walk at a good clip in town. Even with a fishing guide on a boat, do not expect to automatically catch fish. Do tip well, it is expensive to be there for the tourists. Do prepare for the higher altitude, you may have a headache the first day, and the risk of sunburn is higher. Do pull off the road to take in the views. Cash may or may not get you a better deal in the shops, go ahead and ask. Have a navigator in town looking a block or two ahead at the traffic lights, you do not want to get stuck in the wrong lane.

Jackson Hole, Aspen, Vail, Telluride, Sun Valley, Steamboat. They are all over-priced and over-rated ski resorts, filled with the rich and those pretending to be rich. Ski one of the many lesser known but outstanding ski areas and you will have more fun at a fraction of the cost. My own favorites are Angel Fire in New Mexico, Big Powderhorn in Michigan's remote Upper Peninsula, and Gunstock in New Hampshire.

The huckleberry oreo milkshake at The Pharmacy in Jackson is probably the best milkshake I've ever had. Another don't is don't oversleep and stay up late. Seeing all the wildlife at the break of dawn is amazing. We got to see moose, elk, bears and bison, all in the early mornings. Stay up late and drive out of town and see the stars. You probably won't see the sky like that where you're from because of light pollution. It's breathtaking.

No $150. Places when we were there in September even the only camping spot we found was $130.00 don't plan on spending the night there.

Man I miss it out there people in the town were nice but I miss driving along Flat creek at around 5:00 am in the dead of winter just seeing the elk, moose, and eagles roaming free I could just keep driving and getting out taking pictures of the wildlife and just being in the snow

@@McLacBlack Not even close to world class. Try the other side of the divide in Idaho, namely the Henry's Fork, Teton River, Bitch creek...etc. Even better fishing near West Yellowstone. Or go to Cody and fish the South Fork of the Shoshone and other rivers. I've always wondered why people think Jackson has amazing fishing when it does not.

Just listening to all the cars made me realize I need to look for somewhere else to stay when I go to Wyoming. Although $500 a night would have steered me away anyhow. I paid almost that much in Boston but I didn't have to get a rental car so it kind of canceled out.

Got to love how tourists have priced Jackson to the point WY residents can not afford to go to Jackson, the Tetons or Yellowstone without paying thru the nose and dealing with rude tourists always in a hurry to get somewhere.

Great video. I love Wyoming! I mentioned this one other time but I thought I would post it again-anyone with a handicapped parking placard or handicapped plates on their car get into National Parks for free. You get a pass and just show the pass with your drivers license when entering parks.

There is a pass for disabled people U can get on the spot, just show your social security award letter and vola U get a plastic card, but as far as parking, that is NOT free! Only 62 and older and active members of the armed services

@@sitdowndogbreath -I assume you are talking about parking for campers/ RV's? I did post CAR no mention of campers/RV's-I do not have an RV and if you have a car there are always handicap spaces available( I have not seen any abuses with handcapped parking in National Parks) -an award letter will not help you there.

Dick Cheyney used to live there (maybe he still does) We flew into Jackson in Sept 2001 and Airforce 2 and some Blackhawk helicopters were parked down the far end. That meant he was in town and not back in DC. Didn't see him while we were there. Jackson is a great town.
