I also wish everyone would follow that simple escalator etiquette that was mentioned.

Back in late February, when I flew home to Amsterdam, my flight from Tampa to Atlanta arrived late by almost 90 minutes. The flight attendant did ask people to stay seated, so those that were in a hurry could get off the aircraft first to make their connection. Of course, 90% of the people on board didn't listen and I ended up just barely catching my flight to Amsterdam. People should really be more attentive. It's very easy to be attentive. On a previous flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam I noticed the passenger sitting next to me checking his boarding pass for a connecting flight as we were getting close to the airport. Since I was on the aisle seat, I offered to switch places with him, so he could get off quicker. With Amsterdam being my final destination, I wasn't in a hurry, and a little bit of kindness goes a long way.

People on planes can be impolite, from dumping their bags into overheads not ABOVE their seats so passengers ACTUALLY sitting there has no place to put their bags and then has to go further back to place their bag in an overhead and then try to make their way back against the flow to sit down (probably the other person’s bag should have gone) propping their feet on your armrest ahead of their seat. Once I was sitting in business class, window seat, this man sitting next to me, bought women’s fashion magazines like Vogue and started to rip out pages and dump them on the floor so when I let him know that I need access to the aisle, he got up but did not clean his mess, when I mentioned his magazine dumping he told me to just walk on it. Then when we were disembarking the plane, I said loud enough that others could hear” Sir, you forgot your magazines.” He turned around to “It’s alright I don’t want them.” Total jerk left them for the flight attendants to clean up. I picked them up and the attendant that had a bag ready, thanked me. I told her, “I’m sorry that you have to deal with jerks like that.”

In Japan, in the Kanto region you stand on the left side of the escalator and in the Kansai Region (Osaka) you stand on the right. Most of Japan the left side is where u stand, including the airport.
@sylvielpz45698 ай бұрын
That's right I admit I was a little confused, I went from Tokyo to Kyoto then Osaka, I'm French so I kept telling myself to stick to the left side, but in Osaka people stand on the right side on escalators but walk on the left. 😅 So I just waited to see where other people whould stand so I would not be in their way 🙂

Same in Australia: stand on the left. Probably the best advice is to look at what most folks are doing!

To me the most annoying thing about flying are all the gate changes, particularly if they change the concourse. Gates change the most when there are widespread delays. Had a two hour layover and had 4 gate changes in the time, then about 10 minutes before boarding was suppose to start they changed it again. What I generally do is find the most current gate number and park my fanny so I can see the big departure board and finally move with about 15 minutes before the displayed boarding time.

FYI - Aeromexico deplanes in groups, as in rows 1 to 15, then 16 to 30, etc. Eliminates the mad rush to try and get off the plane.

I confess I’m always trying to get out of the plane early! But I always choose the first rows, between 5 and 8 depending on the plane. And last summer I kind of had an argument with the air hostess, I flew San Sebastián-Madrid and had very little time to my connection to A Coruña (the first plane had been delayed and I only had half an hour to cross all Barajas airport). She didn’t want to let me go out but I managed to do it. To make things worse, it was Election Day in Spain and I hadn’t voted in advance, that’s why I was in such a hurry. Congrats for your channel ;)

they should put boarding time and recommended arrival at the airport time. with google ruling the world, now, they should set a reminder on the phone when it's time to leave the house. (my MIL took too long to get ready to leave last time she visited, and I wasn't watching the time as closely as I should have.)
@esmereldapinchon14229 ай бұрын
Stand up right away if you’re flying into NYC, because the people from the back of the plane will rush forward and you’ll be last off. There’s a reason people stand and take their place in the aisle. If you don’t, people from rows behind you will cut ahead.

One tip if you got long interconnecting flights and feel like sh*t after the first leg. If you have a longer layover don't skip out on an airport lounge. Yes it's expensive but the 1h of rest, sleep in a proper bed even, and probably also a hot shower (depending on the lounge) will make you feel ways better. Also less people around.

Similiar to one you've mentioned on about travel on the London Underground which is "have your tickets and ID ready at the gate" ive been stuck behind a family of 6 before who had put all of their tickets and passports away and they needed them again at the gate to get on and it took them forever to find them and one of the adults wouldnt let me pass to get on the plane before them. I spent the flight wondering how i could get revenge

4:05 Another example of checking your bags and they’ve stopped accepting baggage is some airlines will close it 30 minutes before boarding except for first flight of the day and they wouldn’t let me board that flight even, the cutoff was 45 minutes. I got there at 4:30am

Great advice. After a long flight sitting down, standing up as soon as possible to stretch the legs is very natural. Everyone knows it doesn't get you off any quicker but it doesn't slow things down either. I have observed that when they ask you to remain sitting until your row is called doesn't speed things up anyhow. If you want to stand stand if you want to sit sit, it makes no difference.

For the keeping right thing, depending on which country you're in, keep left or right. In Singapore for e.g, you have to keep left. I guess it follows the road driving side rule by default for that particular country. Good video! As a frequent long distance traveller for work, agree on all the points!

If someone is sitting by themselves way off in a corner in the terminal, don't invite all your friends and family to sit right next to that individual. They want to be alone. I find an empty gate before going to my gate so it's easy to find a space to myself. There's no reason to sit right next to a person sitting by themselves.

I think that this video should be mandatory viewing for all of those airport "Karens" and "Kevins" out there. It's so interesting how so many of us board planes or use public transportation and vow that we will not be "one of those people", but then we can become one of those people without realizing it or even intending to do so. Just take a deep breath, be aware, relax, and be respectful. Treat others as you want to be treated, and don't forget to pack compassion and understanding as well as patience. Each of us is unique, and everyone has a story. There is no such thing as a weird human being. It's just that some people require more understanding than others. Remember this the next time you complain about a crying child, a thick accent, or someone who would prefer to focus on their music/podcast than engage in conversation. Remember this the next time you get frustrated and complain about that passenger with a cane or that family with 4 young children that is doing their best to keep everyone happy and under control. Remember this before you start screaming at the gate agents and TSA personnel and flight attendants who are sacrificing their own personal and family time to help all of us travel safely and efficiently. Always ask yourself how you would feel and how you would want others to respond to you if the situation were reversed. I could go on forever with travel tips, but the main one I would share is to never be afraid to ask questions if needed. If it's your first time traveling, or if you haven't traveled in a while, or you are traveling to a new place or flying out of a different airport...etc. and you are really unsure about something (airline rules, gate locations, making connections...etc.), never, ever guess. Always ask. If you don't understand the answer, repeat the question and ask for clarification until you do understand. And if you are still confused, politely ask the person to show you. There is no such thing as a stupid question. And remember that a simple "thank you" can really make someone's day.... as well as a smile. Always love watching your videos! 😃

While I agree to check the Departure Board for gate changes, on my most recent flight - it ended up being that the departure board was wrong and the app was correct the whole time. Got to the gate listed on the board and realized that there was no way our flight could depart from that gate at the same time as the one listed. Checked with the gate attendant - they verified the gate for my flight was the one listed on the app. Got back to the correct gate only 10 minutes before boarding began as I had to go from a satellite terminal to the end of a leg of the main terminal even after arriving two and a half hours early to the airport 😬
@koenven70128 ай бұрын
the only issue I have with the gate lice thing: most of the time I can only hear the gate agents when I'm standing right in front of them because of the bad PA system at most airports and the noise. I don't want to stand there, but it's the only way I can hear what they're saying. I try to stand to the side though (if I have a very high boarding group).
