It is legal at the moment but this loophole will be closed soon, the problem is that all councils have different licensing conditions for both vehicles and drivers, it should not be a race to the bottom with some councils having very little checks but getting lots of drivers because they are cheaper and easier to get licences from

Most drivers go to different places to get badges and plates because the have been refused at other councils

Can I ask, if you had the option at your own council to go for a cheaper quicker way around or the expensive, longer way around which option would have taken? Just out of curiosity

I believe some councils bit extreme but some are too slack, as the poster above says drivers who get refused go to easy councils, but they were refused for a reason, you've stated before that wolves only do a basic police check, I wouldn't be happy if my wife or daughter got into a taxi whose driver and car had only the bare minimum of checks

@@PHVGuy I did not get the option 37 years ago when I got my badge in Manchesteri don’t work any other areas only Manchester don’t want cross border hire if you live in Manchester or Liverpool have the right badge and plate to work in that area not a Micky mouse one

@@markdavies3624 I don't understand why people say it's a micky mouse one, has nobody ever thought about it the other way and maybe local councils and tests are over charging for something that could be done cheaper and quicker? A bit like when the sia license came in, over charging for something over days when it could have been done in one maybe? Just because it's cheaper and quicker does not mean it's not done legally and all the correct procedures have been done.

I get that as a Wolverhampton plated driver you can work Uber in other areas, providing they have op licences in LCC/Knowsley/Sefton etc, but if you’ve only got an op licence in Wolverhampton and nowhere else, it restricts you work other areas? Curious, as I was thinking of going down the same route

I spoke to Wolverhampton Licensing I they allowed to too. They even gave me the list of satellite offices to use without any problems.

Hi there it was me that rang you last night about this, im struggling with it i want to go down the wolverhampton route but im getting people tell me i cant drive for Uber in my home town of Sheffield and Rotherham ive even rang Uber and they said i couldnt

Hi mate. If that's the case then unfortunately you would have to work in a closer town or an operator that accepts Wolverhampton drivers. Check with your local taxi companies and see if they take on Wolverhampton drivers
