Really appreciate the goals message at the end. I'm a dad of three kids with a full time job. Seeing all the comments on Reddit from people hitting Infinite made me feel like I was missing something in the game, so I would chase the hottest deck, spend the money to get the cards and not enjoy the game as much as I should. Then, just like you said, I hit 60 and got that variant and felt such satisfaction. Play for fun. Celebrate the goals you hit. Don't sweat that people with more time and money are doing better than you. I hit 70 last week and was thrilled and there is a small chance I might hit 80 before season end and if I do, It'll be amazing, but if I don't... there is always another season. I started playing in december, just days before the Cosmic season started, and got to 40 and dropped to 10. Then I got to 50 and dropped to 20. So now I'm aiming to 60! Being 56 now. I really like the goal-setting talk. goals should be SMART, specific, measurable, achievable, real, and time-based. it is also important to set short, medium and long-term goals. if you want to get infinite use a deck type/ play style you like.

16:51 this is the reason why I try to limit how much time I spend on Reddit lol. Just because “your pet deck” loses to a specific card, doesn’t mean they should nerf the card. Good cards are allowed to exist, and that’s okay. Just because a card is really strong one week, doesn’t mean the community/meta won’t tech against it the following week and it’ll all balance out. That being said, I agree that Leader deserved a nerf. It was definitely a “feelsbad” card. The ending to this weeks Snapchat was very wholesome, it was the ending I didn’t know I needed. The last subject about setting reasonable achievable goals is so important thankyou for bringing it up. Snap is my first card game and I’m in my mid 20s so a lot more chill now. But I remember being younger at like 16 playing league of legends and thinking that my rank was the end all be all and regularly losing my head, end of the day it’s just a game and about having fun, a number shouldn’t take that away but if you’re set on achieving those high ranks you need plenty of time (I don’t have anymore 😅) and goals that you can manage and achieve! How about first making a desk and learning it inside out etc.

Thanks for the final message, its truly what I think of Marvel Snap. whenever I get a new card/new location, I immediately start to create new decks and try various combos. It may cost me 5-6 ranks straight, the fact that I am learning and having fun is what pushes me more without any regrets. Yes winning is fun, gaining rank is satisfying but thats part of the destination. But we should enjoy the journey and ride of Marvel Snap as well. With the new battle mode the rides are gonna be amazing with close friends. Its an awesome game, we have an awesome community and many awesome and helpful content creators. 😇

Love what you're saying about the Marvel Snap goals. I have been hard stuck in the high 50s and honestly TANKED my ranking because i just want to complete missions and gain new collection levels. I have decided its not that serious, i want to have fun and NOT be forced to play a meta deck. I want to have fun trying weird things. Side note, isnt there an unranked mode coming soon where u can complete missions? im excited for that where i can test new decks vs just being forced to lose cubes when i do want to climb lol

I've commented it before, and I'll do so here again, because I believe it fits neatly into the goals discussion. One of the issues is the matchup system. Pool 3 is so enormous, that collection level really plays a much bigger role (how many pool 3 cards you have access to) than what pool you're in. What happens is for newer players we are encouraged and excited to rush up through the ranks, getting new cards and expanding our decks, then we hit the pool 3 barrier, and start facing off against players with "meta" decks, or players with 500+ more in collection level. It gets frustrating when you have to set your goals lower, because the game only rewards those who have the most cards. (And before I get all those people telling me, "Just wait, you'll get there" or "It'll be faster than you think", I get that, but for many players, that frustration will cause them to quit because the game becomes less about having fun, and more about the slog of time, especially for FTP players.)

Hi Alex, I appreciate what you and Cozy said about not setting the expectation to infinite rank and just enjoy the game for what it is. I was at that point where I was beginning to tilt because I was struggling at rank 60 and I have my friends are a higher rank and obviously the inner competitor in me was making me upset. I then took a step back and realized that I started playing the game because I loved the uniqueness it offered not because of the rank, so thank you guys for being awesome at what you do much love.

I am glad you guys let people know to have fun. I'm super competitive and have been playing games competitively for over 20 years. At the end of the day, I have set realist goal for marvel snap and thats above average due to me being a free to play player. I know that it's a grind, but once I am not having fun I give the game a brake for the day.

I'm 100% with Alex on Leader! Also one thing nobody mentioned, I've bought Leader with Tokens while being early in tier 3 because that was the only way to get higher in ranks (and my peak rank this season was 88, not even that high). Now with this broken matchmaking system where you're facing people with way more cards than you have, making Leader absolutely useless is sucha F-U to all new players

And it's just like you said, some people were relying on leader to climb and now are going to feel targeted by the devs and leave the game entirely because their decks have been crippled and the cry guys always get their way.

@@alexanderthegreat5114 I'm with you, Leader got nerfed, but other two broken and meta defining cards: Sera and Dracula stay the same. So if you got Leader early, you got a middle finger, plus you'll be losing even harder against does who got Sera and Dracula early. Marvel Snap seems to go exactly the opposite way, but I'd much rather prefer them do the Hearthstone thing: big patch every now and then, all meta defining cards get nerfed and other buffed; it's way more fair

You're absolutely right Alex. I been in discord listening to so many people complain and talk down on themselves for plateuing. This is my first season getting to inifinte and I really only made 98. I told them in discord, look my first two seasons I didn't get above 50. Barely made it to 80 last season. Now I'm where I'm at. Takes time. These people are coming in and expecting to hit infinite day 1. One person actually said it helped them feel a bunch better knowing that. I think people need to chill out. Lots of the complaints are from spending too much time with the game, expecting too much of themselves, and playing tilted. If everyone took a breather and just learned to enjoy the game the frustration would be way less.

Cyclops should be a a 3:4 Powe: optic blast (since it’s force not a laser) optic blast moves other cards in this location to a neighboring location so say you play him mid he can split mid right and left, play him left, he pushes right. I think that would be sick

Leader isn't bad now. He's been good in the decks I've played him in since the change. He just doesn't fit into every deck now. He fits into certain builds. Also he probably shouldn't be your only last turn play you are banking on. He fits in a deck that has flexible finishes. Some that come to mind off the top of my head (there are others). Leader to protect a lead in 2 lanes OR 1. Gamora and Demon (from hood) and/or titania to push power 2. Magneato to move their cards to a different lane 3. Shang Chi + 1/2 cost cards (like mentioned before) Similar to before, a good early curve with a flexible top end (including leader) still works.

This is my second season of Snap and I set a goal for myself of finishing 10 Ranks higher than the previous season. I finished my first season above rank 60 and just hit 81 today. So if I can get to 90 next time I'll be happy. One annoying part I read however is that they reset ranks based on current rank and not highest. So with only a couple of days remaining I have stopped playing as I do not want to drop below 80. Hopefully they change this or add an unranked mode so that I can keep completing challenges and working on the season pass.

I set a goal just to make 60 for my 2nd season playing...I got there and am working my way back to 60 for the third(or maybe foyrth?)time and I have not been upset over losing streaks nor whimpering due to money, this game rocks all day in different ways. Thoughts on losing on purpose go down in rank. Tie game should the cubes be split 50/50 if possible? Booster grind. You must play 6 turns for 6 boosters and it's random but with TVA 4 turns 4 boosters if location is not changed. Finally should a game made faster (playing on mobile phone)? 7 out 10 times I'm waiting for next turn and times when winning feels like being trolled to wait.

As programmer making changes to power or cost stat is pretty easy if they create global variables for them thus making change to one line of code. Change card ability takes a longer as you need to make sure it is working correctly with other skills and locations. As for goals I wanted to make it to infinite and I went from 39 to 102 this season so far. It took a lot of effort to get there. I don’t have any series 5 cards, with the only series 4 cards i had were hellacarrier, Maria hill, agent coulson, and abosbing man, with buying season pass cards and not even series 3 complete. Zabu and surfer were the big help in 80 to 90’s ranks. I recommend climbing ranks by 10 each season as it will make it less stressful and time consuming.

Before the buff I would use wolverine as a buff for venom, and then he moves somewhere else, whole venom still keeps the points he had previously, on the location you originally played wolverine.

Healthy goals are definitely very important! That being said....the only goal I REALLY enjoy in games is to try and reach that tippy top, and as frustrating as the game can be, that moment when I hit that goal is absolute BLISS lol. As of this comment I am rank 94 and 8 cubes. I can almost taste it!

@@dariel299 Actually, Leader made you really rethink your whole game plan. I liked Leader because you can't just go Miracle T6 without thinking.. Leader really made me play the game alot differently. Space and initiative in particular.. I play a lot of Zoo decks and in the beginning I was pulling my hair out facing Leader, but then I got She-Hulk and started playing differently. Setting up my late game and such. Leader had nothing on me before the nerf Sorry you felt that way about Leader btw. I'm not saying your points of view aren't valid

I love that they nerfed the counter to SHulk/Death/Moon into the fucken floor, and now all I'm running into is that deck. I ran leader in every deck just because it countered one of the most common decks in the whole game that has basically no counters... Nerfing him that bad was just stupid.

It's amazing that they took a card used a lot to basically will never be ever again. Sure the leader can be used but honestly it's not worth it and I wouldn't be surprised if before the year ends they buff the leader again because no one uses him. But I'm excited that they can update cards willy nilly because it adds nice chances to update cards without needing to wait for the once or twice a month for a patch. Personally I don't want it to be done all the time but it can be done now without a patch.

Grinding towards infinite honestly sucked the fun out of the game for me this season, and looking back the rewards are so not worth the hassle. Lesson learned!

I'm rank 91 and I gotta say this game is grindy as hell if you want to reach infinite 🥵 they need to add win streak bonuses or lower the amount of cubes per each tier to 8 instead of 10 or something because it's kinda ridiculous. 2 of my friends quit because of that. But the game is fun no lie lol

Goals: I wanted to reach Platinum (50) this season but ended up getting to Vibranium (70) a week ago. I don't care for rewards past that, so I been fooling around, trying decks and feeding cubes and snaping just because (btw I need to drop so in the change of season I can go below Iron and then cash those 200 credits when climbing back... I love credits XD )

Respectfully, as someone who enjoys your content, I really don't think Leader is as useless as you make it sound. Often enough, it's pretty clear/telegraphed which lane your opponent ought to play into on turn 6, so it's not always as much of a gamble as it is a matter of prediction. I'd even say the fact it's been increased from 6/3 to 6/7, and the fact that it's now going to have more of a surprise factor (with its popularity drop), actually makes the change a buff as much as a nerf. I never wanted to include Leader in any of my decks before the nerf because of how brainless it felt to play it, but now I actually want to play it because winning with it using the right predict now feels that much more satisfying. Even on the losing end it feels far better now because you actually have to respect your opponent's good Leader play.

I'm of two minds with Leader. Can he get reworked to not feel completely ruined? Sure. Copy one card on the lane he's played rather than all, for example. Was a huge nerf necessary? Personally I think so just because he was too easy a card to play recklessly with and get away with it. Even without throwing in how unfun a combo Leech into Leader was to deal with, you have players playing Leader as a hail mary that had a better chance to win than it did to lose. That's not really what a card game should be and, to Leader's credit at least, he's not the only card in the game that allows that kind of game approach. I feel Zola has just as much toxic potential and should also be looked at, for instance. Cards in a card game should be played with thought and strategy behind them. Unfortunately Leader promoted the opposite and just ended up too effective as a result.

In regards to the message at the end, I think most people get annoyed with a stale meta (myself included). I don't care as much about reaching infinite as I do having fun with different decks and having a variety of interactions with other players. I do not get that out of the play options this game provides, which has just been the queue up and play ladder games. I can reach rank 80 without a sweat playing any homebrewed deck that is decent enough. So because of my ability to play well enough to hit 80, there is a HUUUGE wall post 80 that turns into the sweatiest meta net decks. Its like 90% of the games are the same 3 decks, and then 10% something else. I am really tired of turn 3 Zabus and getting hit with the double spider-man combo over and over and over and over again. The waves and electros into galactus. Last season it was leech and leader over and over and over again. But my MMR level has this garbage in it (yes, even without meta cards. I usually play off meta stuff). I don't really care if I can counter these decks. Of course I can. I am just tired of playing against the same thing all the time. Freshen it up guys. I hope they do balance changes every week (if needed), or at least mid season and not wait till the end. It gets SUPER stale right now at the end of each season, and not because of stressing about rank. This game has the capability to be one of the best balanced games out there with a huge amount of variety if they are quicker to hit things that are too popular.
