He's also known as Weapon X, because he was experimented on, and they coated his bones in a fake metal called andamantium, thus giving him metal claws.

Wolverines are animals that you don't want to mess with. They are highly agressive, and bold enough to take on a full grown bear, and win. Like the animal, Logan is willing to take on the most powerful opponents, like Magneto (who has an advantage over him). I admire Logan because he's a David facing all sorts of Golaiths. Cyclops may be the leader of the X-Men, but everyone knows that Wolverine's the alpha-male of the team.
