There is! The fire extinguisher is usually upstairs near the (metrocard) booth or inside the booth. Sometimes the train operator has one up front with him. Not one coward ran upstairs to try and get one.

Probably did not realize it was an actual human being on fire In the uncensored version, you can clearly see that she is standing completely still. She’s not screaming or sobbing or making any noise at all. You can’t see her head through the flames. It’s not until a few seconds after the officer walks past that you see her legs move, and realize that she is still alive. I’d bet money that a number of people witnessing it might have thought it was a mannequin at first, because you expect that a human being on fire would be having some sort of reaction.

I understand cops are supposed to be first aid certified. The first aid certification is not only CPR, it includes other emergencies, including fire. To be certified, they have to take it every two years, so they probably have the information fresh. They are obligated to render aid. I want to see the officers also prosecuted.

It’s because the guy sitting there calmly on the bench watching is the guy who did it. That’s why he’s saying “This is a person right here”. He’s trying to get through to the guy. Camera guy is terrified to run on the train to help her because he’d have to run by fire guy who still has the stuff on him. Camera guy starts yelling and running when fire guy stands up and reaches in his pocket. Camera guy is terrified. I was as angry as you watching it the first time but then when they put up the picture of the guy who did it, I realized the guy on the bench wasn’t a bystander and he made it dangerous for anyone to help. Watch it again in that context and you’ll see it differently. The guy with the camera is pleading with the guy when he’s saying “This is a person”. They stated here that she may have been sleeping so she may have been stunned and in shock. She should have tried to immediately dropped and rolled to try and put the flames out. Another news channel stated that someone saw him fan the flames on her shortly after he lit the fire as if to spread the flames over her. Why people aren't at least telling her to drop and roll is beyond me. This is horrific. To see the perpetrator sitting there and watching while someone is filming and doing nothing and an officer just walks by and does nothing is sickening.

By the accounts I’ve heard about from those citing footage from the on train security camera - the poor woman was engulfed as soon as she was lit up. It was only herself and the arsonist on the train. I don’t know how quickly after that others realized what was happening. It seems the video starts when the woman is pretty much at a point where no one without a fire extinguisher was going to be able to help her. I think this is not a judgement on those people who filmed because - yes - their video shows the arsonists actions right after and helps in this trial against him. It actually was good they got that additional evidence. Rest that poor woman’s soul! I cannot imagine the pain!!! It is my WORST nightmare. I would wish that no one could ever suffer such fate. I just don’t know what anyone outside of that train could have done to SAVE her without a fire extinguisher by the point of realization of what was happening
