"Texas’ abortion restrictions - some of the strictest in the country - may be fueling a sudden spike in infant mortality as women are forced to carry nonviable pregnancies to term.
Some 2,200 infants died in Texas in 2022 - an increase of 227 deaths, or 11.5%, over the previous year, according to preliminary infant mortality data from the Texas Department of State Health Services that CNN obtained through a public records request. Infant deaths caused by severe genetic and birth defects rose by 21.6%. That spike reversed a nearly decade-long decline. Between 2014 and 2021, infant deaths had fallen by nearly 15%."

I cannot imagine how horrifying and traumatic this must be for these parents to have to watch their doomed infant get weaker until it dies right in front of their eyes. On top of this trauma, they are then stuck with a enormous, bloated hospital bill for the delivery of the nonviable infant instead of the quick trip to the abortion clinic. SMH.

That's specifically *WHY* Republicans try to cheat and spread *outrageous LIES* because they simply wouldn't ever win a national election otherwise. It's because they agree that abortion is homicide want to protect the lives of The unborn among many other reasons. You see you have to be in a legitimate echo chamber bubble if you cannot ascertain the motivations of women who vote differently than you. I understand my opposition and why the way they vote as they do because I have an insight into their psychology and what gives them meaning. These other women that you don't understand have a different philosophical understanding of the world than you do. They questioned just as intensely why anyone would vote Democrat when they want to allow for the genocide of The unborn, many look at you like a Neo-Nazi because they see you as an enabler of a genocide. Course there's a lot of different perspectives around why various women vote for the GOP. Some are dissatisfied with their anti-white rhetoric, some are invested in owning firearms to protect themselves from domestic abuse, some prefer a low-tax position. There are endless reasons why a woman would vote for the GOP. Many years ago my baby had the exact same diagnosis. At that time of course abortion was legal and my doctors were kind and supportive. I went into hospital three days later where I was treated respectfully and safely delivered my baby boy. He passed during the delivery. His situation was dire and he would not have survived. The hospital gave me a copy of his precious little footprints. I can't begin to tell you how devastating the situation was for me, my husband and family. My older child was waiting for her sibling, the nursery was ready.... etc. If I had been told at that terrible moment that there was nothing anyone could do and I needed to just go home and wait, weeks maybe months, until I went into labor - it could have well sent me into a very unwell mental state. After the procedure my doctors were able to tell me that I was physically fine and they saw no reason that I couldn't have more children in the future, which was very comforting. I almost lost my 💩 when one congresswoman said that she would make that 10-year-old little girl carry and give birth to that baby.... And then make false accusations against the doctor, and the mother... No one is perfect absolutely no one I don't care what God you believe in... I myself I'm Mormon so we very much love our children, but we also know if it's not going to live why torture the mother and the child? People put animals to sleep all the time because they don't want them in pain or there's something wrong with them.... So why can't we give the same dignified health care to our mothers that have babies that they want a good majority want them, but it's just not meant to be.... I don't see how Republicans think that they're going to get voted back into office when they're in the middle of trying to take away every single human right women have over the most important things in life... I'm blessed with four beautiful children, 17 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.... There is no reason why they shouldn't have the same freedom that I did growing up.

You’d still make her have the baby?” She said “absolutely!”, I then asked “what if she were raped by a relative?” She said “absolutely I would make her have it!”. I was appalled at her responses. Can you imagine the mental damage you would do to a 10 year old forcing them to give birth under these circumstances? I just don’t get these people. @@reginafetty6374 Yup! I saw a video of a woman testifying in front of Texas state congress, I believe, who went through this very thing, and she said that she doesn't know if she'll able to have another baby again after that. From Congressmen that asked, "If a woman swallows a pill with a camera (for a colonoscopic type investigation), are you able to see her pregnancy?" They don't understand female physiology, let alone have a medical degree, and yet they're making ignorant laws dictating how and when medical procedures are to be performed and wonder why there's backlash! They're literally killing people with these laws, because none of the doctors want to be sued. They don't understand that complications like this are some of the legitimate, unpreventable challenges that lead to so many dying in childbirth a century or so, before medicine got as sophisticated as it is now.

I can just IMAGINE how fast it happens at 98 degrees, and these women are walking around for WEEKS if not MONTHS with this baby inside of her. It's no surprise that people are getting sepsis and possibly dying. This should be considered medical malpractice. And then they have to pay thousands more for a funeral. Even without a funeral, cremation or traditional preparation of the body and a crazy expensive coffin have to be bought. All the while the mother is dealing with postpartum bleeding, depression, and anxiety. I don't think 10000 extra births is an unforeseen consequence. I think it is part of the plan. The oligarch class needs poor people to be competing for jobs. On the larger, national plan for fascism, extra bodies are always needed. Fascism is like a giant Ponzi scheme. In a Ponzi scheme, previous investors are paid off using the money from new investors. That way the Ponzi scheme can claim huge returns and get more people to invest. Where to get middle-class and little wealth people to invest in fascism is to promise them benefits. Benefits obtained by stealing those goods from oppressed people in your own country (homes in jewelry stolen from Jews in Germany were given to nonJewish Germans; Palestinians are being murdered right now and their homes given to Jewish settlers; the Farms of black people were stolen from them after reconstruction and given to white people). Fascism is a giant Ponzi scheme that only in riches a few rich crooks.

not at all, as it turns out. medical abortions are still performed in texas by the thousands. this is an issue to be had with the medical provider.

WOW! Can it worse? Sadly yes, if we as a nation continue to let politicans/governor's dicitate our medical care. Medical decisions in so many areas. Women's health, gransgender and etc. We must vote these sick politicans out of office.

This really makes me angry. I think the government needs to stay out of women’s personal lives. Why is it that these conservatives feel they need to take away the rights of people!? And what pisses me off that when it comes to gun laws that kill innocent people they don’t want it. They’re hypocrites.

When I was a hospital chaplain, I pulled my normally scheduled overnight shift. I was called to the labor and delivery ward to a couple who had just given birth to a stillborn baby. The parents asked me to baptize the dead baby for them. I did while holding that baby in my arms. It was heartbreaking not only for the family, but to the staff, and myself as well. I firmly believe that every lawmaker who has voted to implement a near total ban on abortion needs to hold the dead baby in their arms, look the parents in the eye and say, "There is no other option." Maybe, just maybe, if they are confronted with the reality, they will change their minds. I doubt it, but hope abounds.

My grandmother lost the pregnancy that would’ve been my father’s younger sister, the middle of her second trimester. For whatever reason, she didn’t expel the fetus, she carried the dead & decaying fetus for several more weeks until she went into labor. The resulting infection left her unable to become pregnant again.

I broke down in tears just listening to that poor mother's testimony. I can't even imagine the trauma and pain she had to re-live all because Republicans are so heartless and cruel. It makes me just as sick to my stomach. I can't imagine that pain and heartache. I have had to have a D&C due to an ectopic pregnancy, the choice wasn't even a matter of discussion. My husband and I immediately just told the doctor: "Do it!" My husband wanted the doctor to save my life, I wanted the doctor to save MY life! I had an 18mo old son at home whom I loved dearly and loved being his mother. The thought of not being there to raise him was unthinkable to either my husband or myself. I just keep thinking, what if these laws had been in place when that happened to me? What would have happened had I not had the choice to save my own life!?

So don’t want women to have an abortion because of the inhumane treatment of the fetus But letting a baby suffocate to death up to 4 hours is ok No matter the trauma it causes the families

"Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Makes a new meaning in modern times, this is so chilling. Why can't humans understand that noone "wants" an abortion, people "Need" an abortion.

It's been decades and listening to this woman's testimony brought back all the pain and tears . . . There was no brain to speak of. Anencephaly. I won't describe the horror of that terribly deformed skull. No one should have to see their baby like that. We listened to the heart monitor in a room so quiet you could hear a pin drop. She tried to be so brave, quietly murmuring words of love to a child who would never hear them. I prayed that death would come immediately at birth while silently cursing a world that would make her go through such unbearable grief. There is no other word for what mother and baby went through. It was torture. Hour after hour of it. On day 2, she cried until she didn't. I lost my best friend that day. We lost a bright and brilliant young mind who could have changed the world. I feel nothing but disgust for the politicians who support these heartless policies but even more so for the people who voted for the cruelty. Hoping she has found peace by the waves of her beloved Pacific Ocean. SH, my friend, if you're out there, I send you my love.

But republiklan best medical minds have decided this is how things must be because the Bible . 6 SCOTUS justices , Greg Abbott , Ted Cruz , Moscow Mitch a.s.o people who have never had a day of medical training are dong these decisions by a book written by men who knew jack , men who claimed earth is flat and whales are fish . Remember when these women were in US Senate , both Texas senators left , Ted Cruz and John Cornyn were too afraid to even listen to these stories .
