It's no wonder people would rather sleep in the street or live in a sign than catch tuberculosis or hepatitis, or flu or or or... at a shelter. We call them "shelters" bc it sounds better than "internment camp." Every person deserves their OWN PLACE TO LIVE with heat, a/c, and running water even if it's just a studio or tiny house.

@Alex18917 ай бұрын
While the police were very polite with her (and she was too), the situation, on multiple layers, is indicative of a dysfunctional society. Obviously no one should have to resort to homelessness to avoid an abusive living situation, which seems to be the case here. But let's also talk about other aspects. When confronted, one of this woman's concerns was what was going to happen to her belongings. She made it quite nice inside the sign, including things you might find in a normal home, such as picture frames, a desk, a coffee maker, etc. The manager of the grocery store reasonably expressed concern about liability if the women were to continue living there, in case anything happened, such as the sign falling. As such, while it is reasonable that the woman was made to leave, a better society would have already had a function in place for the safety of this woman's belongings. Additionally, the police, however polite they were, were unable to arrange replacement shelter for the woman. This is not a criticism of the police in this particular case, but rather an indictment on the fractured nature of society as a whole. She was not arrested and did not obtain a criminal record from this incident. Still, though, no substantial assistance was provided. The issue was essentially only moved to a future point in space and time.

they keep showing us how horrible people live in these horrible places but don't explain how the govt has made it impossible to get a place to stay, unless you don't work.

Ummmm, not sure the unless you don’t work is true. Many people who work are still technically homeless, or unable to find affordable housing.

I would like to know how she came and went for a year without anyone noticing, not to mention moving furniture up there 🤔.

The rent was cheap. Used to be, in the old days, when a store row was built downtown on a main street, there were upper floors over the stores that were professional offices and rooming rentals. Maybe we need to get back to that. Building codes could require places like Walmart and others to build a floor of inexpensive living space above the stores. The problem, would be allow good , quiet tennents like the homeless lady here, and keeping the criminals, drug addicts and crazies out.

Biden would consider her middle class

I want to know more about the lady in the sign and what it looks like inside the sign. Clickbait

Greedy developers and government, no effort to develop Tiny home communities for seniors and struggling families Pathetic..

Okay but what sign? The one above the store? Like an attic? Or the one out front that's like 2-3 feet wide? They could've shown us, it's like they missed the pinnacle of this story.
