My son was hit with a nasty antisemitic comment6 years ago in a nearby district when he was 9. I couldn’t believe it. The kid who said it did keep trying to apologize, and the boys mutual friend came with the antisemitic kid trying to get my son, 9 years old, to forgive the comment. My kid was deeply upset and decided not to hang around his friends if the one kid was there. He never believed that apology it seemed forced from their friends so they could all still hang out. I told my son about forgiveness, etc., I tried to help. However I quickly realized and told my kid it is his situation, I wasn’t there and don’t know what’s going on, so I respected his decision. He innately knew what some adults forget, that antisemitism can run pretty deep and letting it go, keeping that kid in his life, meant ‘fool me twice Shame on me’

Whether we agree with the message or not, at least the board is not infringing on freedom of speech. As long as violence is not preached we have to allow all voices to be heard. That is what we were taught as children and it was constantly told to us. Most people have common sense and know right form wrong, and truth from fiction. When you start limiting speech it makes some people wonder why, if what is being said really isn't true, are you trying to quell some voices? It's better to let people speak their mind and most people will make a proper decision. Otherwise, it may be your opinion that is shut down in the future. Freedom of speech is extremely important and we are seeing this right infringed upon too much of late. Hey, we made a pretty good country based on these principles, it is only recently when we are limiting free speech that our nation is being torn apart.
