Feeding wildlife can be fun and if done RESPONSIBLY there is little impact. The Queensland Government's Feeding Wildlife page has important information about the important things to consider when feeding wildlife. In saying this, I wonder how many who say what you say go ahead and feed wildlife while hooking them in the mouth as part of fishing, whether for catch and release or not.

Animal agriculture uses 80% of total agricultural land yet yields only 20% of the calories. And I'm not talking about hand outs, I'm talking about responsibly feeding wildlife like a healthy snack in a very infrequent manner, not to make them dependent.

Once you feed them, they get used to you and become less fearful of you, which can lead to them someday attacking you with no fear. You try to fight back and stand your ground, but the wild animals don't care and will continue to attack because you "taught" them that you're not a threat by feeding them. If you go camping one day, never feed a wild animal, because you'll never stand a chance against them after that.

I take care of the native berry bushes and flowers to see the wild animals in Washington. The deer, birds, and rabbits will spread those seeds as nature intended. I do have hummingbird feeders but hope to stop using those once I am able to have more bugs and flowers in the area.
