Agreed. I actually struggle with my weight also. But i used to work with a lady who had to sneak behind her husband's back to go to the gym. He wanted her to stay big but she was worried about her health. I will say though, she was probably 400 pounds and he adored her. I wish i had a guy look at me like that...

I don’t think most people that are body positive are condoning it and saying there are not downsides, it’s that just because you are obese doesn’t mean you’re not human and don’t deserve to be treated as such. At the end of the day they know what they are doing will kill them and their body hurts, but it’s not my place to make you feel like shit on top of that. I don’t think your comment is disrespectful because I agree it is a problem! There are usually physiological issues that go along with it or past trauma that led to relying on food as a unhealthy coping mechanism so often I think therapy is required before many people can loose weight.

From a formerly morbidly obese chick...I can guarantee you that it’s 90% a food issue that she has. People assume that obese people are just lazy and don’t want to exercise and hitting the gym would solve our problems. Though exercise could help when it comes to simply overweight people....usually when people are obese or morbidly obese; exercise would hardly make a dent in the amount of excess calories they’re consuming unless they’re doing it several hours every day. (Which could be easier for thin folks to hop on a treadmill to do after they have a cheat day or a after a weekend eating a lot of excess calories etc...but when regular every day tasks are so difficult for morbidly obese people, that isn’t at all likely/plausible an option...so the excess fat just adds up and continues doing so)

Colossal snail I honestly think that they both are suffering from mental health issues. She is addicted to food and is self medicating most likely to attempt to heal her depression, and he is addicted to obese women most likely to compensate from a previous relationship where he was cheated on or made to feel inadequate and insecure. By being with morbidly obese women he feels safe knowing that they are so “grateful” to be with him - that they won’t cheat and will worship the ground that he walks on. They both need professional mental health care as they BOTH most likely are suffering from some deep rooted issues and low self esteem is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.

Wow, kudos to you! I've been on weight watchers for almost a year. I have lost about 15 % of my original weight and I feel really good. I am still in the obese catagory but I have learned to focus on feeling healthy rather than the numbers on the scale. It took me many years to commit to eating better because I didn't want people to judge me if I tried to diet and failed.

When my family found out that my 18 yr old baby brother had dropped out of college, moved to Vermont, and was getting married to a girl he met on the internet! To say we gave them Hell is an understatement! They celebrated their 22yr Anniversary last week! His marriage lasted and is more successful than our parents! At the end of the day no matter how much we love someone it is ultimately their life to live. Whether this relationship succeeds or fails it’s up to family and friends to know their role and stay in it. The “I told you so’s!” Is more damaging to a person than your doubters. It’s also the quickest way to lose that person. I’m still trying to rebuild my relationship with my brother and sister-in-law after 22yrs!

Me and my husband have been together sense i was 14 and he was 16. We didn't have a wedding when we where 19 and 21 because no one wanted to come. We got married in a garden. His mom and dad showed up to tell him he was making a mistake. They made rude comments like how many gay people have you married while i was saying my vows and than Told me i better keep my shit together after we kissed. This june will be our 5 year wedding anniversary and we have a one year old boy now. I've never said anything to his Dad or sister after all the mean things they have said and done to me I've always walked way and cried about it when i was alone. It still makes me cry when i think of what was the happiest day of my life truned into a attack after all i did for his family and how i always respected them and just wanted them to love me as much as i loved them and suport me when i had no one in my family there for me. His Dad is still the same but we just brush it off. His sister though only liked me till after i had our son and she wanted to be apart of his life because the last time we hung out with her she got in my face while i was crying over a fight we had about everyone else skydiving except me because i hate flying. She called me a little bitch, a cry baby and little girl than shoved me. John said he never wanted to see her after that. Now she just makes me uncomfortable buying me expensive things all the time. Also It's now a shame i didn't plan a wedding and everyone is mad at me for not inviting them. It's always damed if you do or if you don't with his family but i would never tell them how they truly make me feel every time i just fake a smile and kill them with kindness. Sometimes people just hate what they never had and Don't want anyone else to succeed better than them. That's their problem. I'll be happy for them no matter what.
