Thank you CBS for showing this without laughing 😆 behind her back. Ive been a cook/chef for 23 years and I truly am grateful that you took the time the promote this way of cooking 🍳 and eating 🍴. You also could not have picked a better person to guide you through on what you can pick, then what, then cook!!! She was great!!! I hope you can find more unique foraging shows to produce. Thanks!!!

It is He who produces both trellised and untrellised gardens, date palms, crops of diverse flavours, the olive, the pomegranate, alike yet different. So when they bear fruit, eat some of it, paying what is due on the day of harvest, but do not be wasteful: God does not like wasteful people.(Quran chapter 6 verse 141)

I love this woman! What a cool person. I want to be friends with her. It's so refreshing to see someone flying their freak flag, even when they know other people are probably being kinda judgey. My mom was always into wild edible plants, too, and in our very suburban Denver neighborhood she identified a couple that were growing as weeds in our yard and neighbors' yards and went around asking if she could pull them out of their yards. Nobody said no; they were more curious about this weed-eating woman. The plants were delicious boiled and seasoned with a little bacon fat and malt vinegar.

What's old is new again! It's so great to see this! Our family friend tells stories of going out into the woods with salt and pepper when she was a kid. She's 74!! I remember getting honeysuckle, blackberries, and tiny blueberries near the pony lot (area where the pony lived and was fenced) on my grandparents' property in VA. And you know what; blueberries and blackberries don't even taste as delicious now! Fruits are now modified to taste even sweeter, I prefer the taste of yester year's berries.

My favorite is urban foraging. A popular landscape tree where I live is the amalanchlier/Saskatoon or June berry tree. The fruits resemble blueberries and taste like blueberries. Beautiful white spring flowers and awesome fall foliage. Alot of old trees have died and chicken of the woods and oysters everywhere when the seasons are right. Walnuts everywhere in late summer that just get ran over by cars. Elderberry bushes growing up through old chain link fences. Mulberry trees that people find as a weed tree in their yards. Sand cherry trees that produce orange colored tiny plums are amazing...And if I was allowed, we got rabbits everywhere in my yard that I wish I could trap and use as a protein source.

I love these stories. Black and white Americans have always forages and grown their own for centuries and it’s cool that we are rediscovering our roots. If you think about it, no matter how we got here, so many of us have had wonderful lives in the US because we do have amazing land in the US to explore! Also it’s so important because everyone has to know how to forage, esp the way the world is going. That said, she could totally wear a hoodie and she’ll be fine.
