I was single (but childless) while going thru a lower limb ordeal, leaving me unable to walk. I don't like asking for help, and had no family in the area and few superficial friends. A neighbor began to impose her help on me, and for a little while, I really couldn't refuse. I needed help, and I didnt even have to ask. As I got better, she got weirder. She called and texted at least 3 times a day, wanted to hang out every single day. She was always trying to discourage me from doing things for myself that I could do. And talk bad about my other friends. She always had to be right, and make me feel stupid for being wrong. I finally had enough and started standing up for myself, in a polite way.She suddenly wouldn't talk to me now. Won't make eye contact when I see her around. I dodged a bad situation and learned non romantic friendships can get as abusive as romantic ones. Not saying this woman was as bad as Janie. But she had a serious need for having people dependant on her, people she could control. To the point where it was damaging me psychologically. It was a huge mistake for Rachel to let Janie back into her life. But I get why she did it, she needed the help. While she knew it was not healthy, she never suspected how unhealthy. Lesson learned. I'll go broke hiring professional caregivers if I have to. People who need to control people never fail to impress with the lengths they will go to.

My Dad lost both legs due to an early outbreak of MRSA, he had 11 amputations to try to cut the infection off over 12 months.!!! It was absolutely horrific, he was almost 70 & wasn't expected to get out of the hospital but he did & he lived another 10 years, he was never the same (obviously) but the effect of so many operations in such a short time left him prone to mini strokes.! We took him home & my mother, my sister & myself all took care of him despite the Doctors pushing to have him put in a care home, not for his good but ours.!! He worked as a coal miner for 30 years to buy his house & we decided he was damned well going to enjoy it.! The house ended up looking like a hospital ward with all the equipment we had.! MRSA is no joke.!

They even had the nerve to send the invoice out, it went unpaid.!!!) My Dad saved my life by standing by my side & always picking me up when I was trying to quit heroin, I gave him so many reasons to wash his hands of me, I lied, I stole, I cheated & my word meant nothing.!! Without my Dad & my Mum I doubt I'd be here today.. They believed in me when I didn't.! They unconditionally loved me when I utterly despised myself.! I couldn't live being the person I'd become & I grew suicidal... They saved my life in more ways than one.!!! With their help I've now got almost 15 years of being 100% free from ALL drugs & I drink only occasionally.!! Fortunately I was able to get myself clean in time to be able to help care for him & it's something I'm very proud of. Out of the dozen or so "acquaintances" I used to hang around & do drugs with, SEVEN are dead & only ONE other is drug free.!!! Those are NOT good odds.!! I love my Dad & my Mum even more now than I ever did.! Please stay safe out there & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🙏 ❤️

There was no way we weren't going to do everything possible to make sure his last years were spend in his home with his family around him.! And that's exactly what happened, right up to the last two days when he passed in hospital.! My Mother is 76 now & still in good health, my sister lives next door & Mum & I share the house.. It just seemed better to stick together, especially with the ridiculous cost of living these days.! I simply can't afford to have my own house.! 😉 We live in strange times.!!! Sounds like a typical battered wife syndrome. That poor lady thought she had no other choice but to return and was more than likely bullied into it subtly. The truth is, there isn't as much help out there for the (way too many) victims of abuse in the home. Officials that others think are there to help people in these situations are far fewer than needed.

When I was watching this episode, I can't help but think that Rachel is either beyond naive or dumb af. But I try to see it like this, she's 'desperate' - it seems like no one in her life would want to take care of her as she went through surgeries over surgeries. Her son was used to the surrounding where they lived, and both are emotionally attached to Janie...hmmm...

The day she tried to take away my kid would have been the last day I ever willingly spoke to her. I'd move back in with my parents, or take out a loan, or max out credit cards, or move into a homeless shelter. Anywhere is safer than with a viper like Janie. She went so far as to file papers and try to take legal guardianship of Rachel's son. 😮 And Rachel moved back in with her after that. Girl, what? How do you remain friends with someone after that?!

The theory of mind of people with autism ranges from baby to teen. Lying is rather foreign to them. Seeing things from another's POV is difficult to impossible. I worked with a college student with ASD. He took a photography course and as homework he was to photograph people. He decided to ask some college girls exercising on the green if he could photograph them. They call security. He carried a card that told people about autism and even that made the college put him on probation.

Thanks for covering this case, Dr.G. It's terrible the perp got so little time for attempted murder, thievery of $ and a child. Would have been interested to know what happened to Rachel and her son. Did she finally get well? Hiding some place safe for her and her son? I think Janie has discovered her criminal side and likes it, will try again with someone even more vulnerable, learning quickly w/2+yrs.to think about what she did wrong. Or she could still get preggers herself and reform her twisted brain? Ugh. A very dangerous person. Thanks again for an interesting video.
