I would just say there is no proof whatsoever he was targeting Asians. while it was an Asian woman that died, the news stated he first tried to do it to another person without stating their nationality. I believe he would've done this to anyone he had the opportunity to. I know it is beyond fucked up and definitely not the first time this has happened and seems to keep happening. With New York not doing a fn thing to stop or at least try to prevent it. I'm not sure, I've never been there or even rode a subway train so I don't know if the train stops at certain places or if the doors open or can open at different places but they should install railings everywhere except where the doors open. And as much as this has been happening everyone who rides these trains should know better than to stand anywhere near the tracks.

Some people in the comment section are focusing on the fact that the victim was near the edge and not that the victim was PUSHED to death. It is textbook victim blaming because I haven't seen anyone who wrote those particular comments, put any blame on the perp who pushed the ASIAN woman to her death. Something that should be noted, is that while standing away from the edge may save your life, it does not stop crazy people from attempting to kill someone or a freak accident from happening. I remember the horrible scene making my way through Penn Station between the LIRR and Amtrak after returning from Spain back in September 2021; it was crowded, dark with druggies and deranged people everywhere, it felt extremely unsafe. Be aware of your surroundings and don't stand near the edge. Been standing along the wall which would force the attacker to drag you to the edge and if it gets there I'd simply drop to the floor forcing the attacker to have to go even further of possibly carrying my whole body which also makes a scene to draw attention and hopefully get help. I'm 250 lbs so hope your homeless can afford dumbbells

I totally agree. At this point people should not stand so close to the edge. This keeps happening and I know people hear about it. People stand there because when the trains pull up they wanna hurry up on to either get a seat or to just get on period being that trains are sometimes crowded. It's just not safe to stand that close now.

Another thing. I think they need to start pulling in slowly because of this. Those trains pull in kinda fast. I'm not from NYC but have been there many many times and have been on the subway a lot. At least if they are coming in slowly they may be able to stop before someone gets ran over. If they are barreling down then there is not enough time to stop. Just a thought.
