I think it depends, if you're in a healthy relationship, your partner will share HER income (we live in a modern world, can't ask for equality if you yourself are too selfish to share your wealth with your husband/BF). She also will influence you to have a better saving or profitable habit. If you're in an unhealthy or uneducated relationship, your partner will spend YOUR income, doesn't share her income and influence you to have terrible spending habit. In short, don't be afraid to be in a relationship, just choose your partner wisely. There are some very pretty and unselfish women out there, best wishes.

The reason a lot of women think that the price of the ring is important, is because when the idea of engagement rings/wedding rings came out, the marketing company actually used the idea that "a man must prove his love to you with a diamond." Which made diamond wedding rings a thing. The marketing for diamond rings was actually brilliant because it became a tradition to buy these rings to prove your love for your woman. noodlellover The first diamond engagement ring was made in 1477, and after that they were very popular with the few people that could afford them.

Literally told my boyfriend when he’s ready to propose, I want a fake ring. Wasting money on a ring is so stupid to me. But I do like the look of it so I want one, just nothing expensive.

For those who don't know, this was posted on a subreddit that shames rings. This particular post was satire. The woman who posted this was not shaming anything, she was pointing out the absurdities of that particular subreddit.

I love my wife. She hates diamonds (thinks they're too bland) and she went and picked out $40 rings from Walmart. The ring isn't important to her at all. She'd rather use all that money for something that has a more practical use.
@TeaBurn6 жыл бұрын
I hope you know what those cheap rings are specifically made of, because if it doesn't say, then it's a good chance it's made from cadmium, a common yet toxic metal in cheap jewelry, almost just as bad as lead, that even some higher end places sell.

I never knew people were treated differently because of rings, because I never cared. lol. I agree with him over it morally bothering me when someone applies how much you value them to a ring. I had an ex that kept bringing up how people told her the ring I got her was too small. It made me start to question if it was her feelings, because she started treating me really badly after I got her the ring. I mean if she wanted a bigger ring then she should have helped me with the bills. Then I would have had the money for a bigger ring. She made more money than me, yet I paid the rent and all the bills on my own and gas and electric increased almost $200 when she moved in. I no longer wanted to get married after dating her.

Holy shit, you Americans are crazy. I know quite a few guys that make more than 100k "pre tax" per year, and nobody buys an engagement ring for like 18k. Engagement rings aren't even a regular thing here in Germany, most people have wedding rings, but I would say only one in three has an engagement ring. What's the deal in spending that kind of money on a ring? It can get lost, it can get stolen and it doesn't change one thing in your life. Save on the ring and invest in an appartment or house.

My wife and my rings total was about 600 and we splurged for our honeymoon. The only criteria for her ring that was important for her was that it was beautiful. She didnt care what kind of stone it was.
