The Royal Navy experience of women commanding officers is not great. The C.O. of HMS Portland was found guilty of bonking one of her officers. She then had the temerity to sue the R.N.for dismissing her. She collected much gold. the Royal

Hope it is merit based,and not political like it was when women were allowed in combat roles in the U.S. Navy. Its always a disaster when politicians use military for social experiments.

That is why I don't think women should serve in situations where they are fighting men 1.5 more lethal, e.g., hand to hand combat OR where women slow down ground forces because biology didn't give them the legs to keep up. They should do well in other combat roles assuming they have the mentality required to kill. I do believe there are women that merit the rank and position that males have held. Now it is a question of convincing women to want to try...much harder to enforce, no matter what men do to enable them. And forcing men out and women in...well that is just a PC shitshow.

Well, they may look that good in the near future, a lot of the early women in Naval positions were put there through political action, not ability so they ended up getting killed due to their own incompetence.

@@kdrapertrucker The ones that "failed" were typically a result of being driven out by the men who were too insecure to take orders from women. Go back far enough and it's no different than the old school shitbirds that refused to take orders from "coloured folk" and did their level best to drive them out as well.

Had the pleasure of participating in exercises with the Japanese Navy when stationed in SanDiego. Probably the most professional and dedicated navy in the world. Japanese navy is no joke.

The swastika was only used by the Nazi's. But the rising sun flag has been used officially from 1870, but different versions have been used like the hiashi mon for centuries. We might as well ban all the European and North American flag because they represent slavery and colonialism.

@@capmidnite yes and neither are all flags that represent colonialism. For example under the Union Jack, many atrocities have been committed in places like India, Australia and Africa. Do we tell the British not to use those flags? Personally I don’t think thats the best idea. I think the British people have their own right of self determination, and not have other countries tell you what flags should and shouldn’t represent your own country.

Not only tough but super smart. She’s all business, as a CO has to be. A relative of mine thru marriage was CO of a nuclear carrier and later was a 3 star admiral in the USN. Vietnam war hero as a navel pilot.

The modern Japanese military is well equipped, well trained and superbly professional. That said, unlike the old Imperial days it's not usually the first career choice for young ambitious Japanese men (and women).
