@@paulcroxton6047 Yes absolutely. You might think you are rescuing them, but they will give you far more than you could ever give them. In the best case scenario adopting a rescue will cut out back yard breeders and puppy mills. IMO leading to far less cruelty to mans best friends and other pets.

About a year into working for the small office I was at, my boss found a stray golden/mutt that was very scared and took 3 days of convincing that he wasn't a bad man. Spent a week at his home feeding, vetting, and loving on him, and then he realized that he had EXTREME separation anxiety. So, he predictably started bringing him to work lol His name was Buddy, and this dog literally had a little room decked out in the Boss's office, but would wander the cubicles and choose someone's feet to sleep on for the day, or would wander for pets. I was the "butt scratcher", so if he wanted butt scritches he would come to me. It was honestly the best thing ever, and more offices should have emotional support pets, even though we were more like his emotional support office haha

Pit Bulls were bred to be very good natured with people! In the old days the best fighting dogs usually lived with families because it led to emotional stability and higher intelligence. It's very satisfying to take shelter animals home. You know they would've been euthanized eventually. Instead, you give them a really good life where they are loved and respected. We rescued a couple kittens back in 2014. Both had feline herpes, and one had eye problems because of it. Today, they're both doing well. They still have flares, but nothing a little lysine immune booster doesn't help with. They both are so gentle, yet playful. So glad we took them into our lives.

@@justicejoycetv Aww. So glad he finally had y'all to give him love. Since being out on my own I've had cats but let me tell a bit about a rescue collie we got in the mid 1970s. She had been in a puppy mill situation and been abused a bit. When we got her she had never been inside a house & totally freaked out at the Christmas tree when we brought her home; also freaked out at the vacuum. She went from that to playing soccer and Nerf football with us kids. And her "inner lady jock" sure came out! You'd have thought she was trying out for NFL defensive tackle! Whenever us boys were doing something active or rough and tumble she wanted to be part of it and she dove right in! We wondered if she'd ever had a chance to just be a puppy and play for the sake of playing. Was hilarious when we went canoeing: she'd been in shows before the puppy mill routine & that might have been a factor in her visible "Ewww, icky" behavior on riverbanks and lake shores ... until ... after a bit you turned around and she was in the water up to her armpits just grinning away. :D About every other month Mom would take her to be groomed and the groomers would send Brandy home with pink tulle bows behind her ears & for a couple days afterward she would be prissy and "do all the show poses" - then prissy and dainty went out the window and it was back to what we called her "tomboy persona". :D Eventually she went from freaking out at the vacuum to you had to bump her with it multiple times to get her to get up and move out of the way. And then there was the time she totally scammed Dad - he had a foam backpacking pad and a big pillow he would put on the family room floor to watch NFL football games. One day Brandy was bumping her dinner bowl against the kitchen baseboard as had become her habit to signal she wanted more kibble at other than standard meal times. So, Dad got up, went to kitchen filled her bowl. Brandy didn't show up. And she still didn't show up. Meanwhile, the rest of us were trying to be quiet in the family room ... Dad came back to family room and found Brandy lying on his pad with her head on his pillow and giving what we called her "silly collie grin". I'll never be convinced that she didn't deliberately noodle that out and plot it. She was great. Sure miss her.

Sad story warning: We had a dog named Bear. He was a service dog for about 10yrs. He was lazy and peaceful. But his favorite human was my stepmom Becki. He LOVED her. If she was away from him, he would howl and pace anxiously, when she came back, he would jump on her, wag his tail and just be super excited. He had hip problems from his diabetes and was on insulin. He was amazing with his meds, perfectly fine with needles, pills, etc. he died a while back from multiple severe infections stopping his heart. The one who saw him leave was Becki. To this day, we still cry, Becki the hardest. She said it was almost as if he was making the hardest decision she ever faced for her. To let him go. Right before he left, he gave a small lick to his mama. It was so painful for him and mentally painful for us. This just brought memories. Bear was beautiful and fun and patient. I miss him so much, so does Becki and everyone else does too.

When I was thirteen, and in a really troubled state of mind, I kept getting in trouble, kept fighting with my parents. It was not good. One day we decided to look at some doggos, and my mom fell in love with a tiny beagle puppy. This puppy would growl at her brother. It was so cute I thought it was a good idea to make her growl too, and that's how she talked to me. Things changed when we got that dog. We stopped fighting. I stopped getting into so much trouble. Became close to my parents again. Ect. Well, when she was about 10 years old, it all ended. On sat night, my folks frantically called me and told me something was wrong with her so I ran over there. I should've actually still been camping with friends, but we decided come back early, and I happened to be right down the street from them when they called. It was very weird timing. My beagle was absolutely in pain, shaking, and she wouldn't eat.The day before she was fine. Growing up I used to joke that she would growl at me on her death bed, and that's exactly what she did. She could barely even move, but when I went to comfort her she gave a little growl at me and it broke me apart. We had to put her down. She was fine Friday eating normal, then became basically debilitated by Saturday, and had to put her down Sunday (or Monday). It came out of nowhere. It was an aggressive cancer that she didn't show any major symptoms for until that day. Every night when it was time for bed, they would sing a song, "good night sweet heart, it's time to go," and she would immediately run to her little bed and lay down. That's how they got her to lay down for pretty much the full 10 years. They sang the dong to her when they put her down. Your story reminded me of ours and it still hurts to think about it. Doggos are special in so many ways. Take care
