Yesterday, Thomas Cook Airlines issued an apology after threatening to throw one passenger off a flight to Tenerife, because staff branded her crop top inappropriate. 21-year-old Emily O’Connor - who describes the episode as the worst experience of her life - was wearing a pair of orange trousers and a black bralette when she was asked to cover up by staff. But, while she’s adamant there was nothing wrong with her choice of clothes - etiquette expert Liz Brewer argues that her outfit was indeed offensive, and says airlines are right to enforce a dress code. Both women join us in the studio to discuss.

First, it's a bra! Second, she held up the flight and could have caused others to miss a connecting flight or a car rental or whatever. (I have had flights connect that ended up being only about 10 minutes apart due to delays and almost missed my flight for my dad's funeral) Please make your point some other way, and put something on over your bra. It's not all about YOU when about 100 other people need to get where they paid to go.

I was recently in an online group where a shirtless guy asked if that was offensive to anyone, and I did feel kind of uncomfortable but didn't want to say anything because to say it was "offensive" was a stronger word than I feel and no one else said anything. And because it's controversial to say so. I resented being put in that position. He just should have known better. And so should these dumb selfish inconsiderate ladies

Far too many people confuse public transport with their own private vehicle. If you're paying for a ticket you're not entitled to behave in a way that disregards the collective. Sitting in close proximity to someone else's bare skin is not desirable to most passengers.

Holly and Phil are being ridiculous in their comments that this girl should be able to wear whatever she wants in public. This is really a more specific argument: The entire point of this dilemma is that airlines have modesty/appropriate behavior policies and the flight crew deemed that she violated them. She was asked twice to put on a jacket, but she chose to be stubborn and inconvenience everyone on the plane to try and make a point. So self-centered 😮

The problem is that if the rule is as vague as "Wear something appropriate", then she's following the rule because she thinks what she's wearing is appropriate. You think if she threw a tank over it, that would cross the line to let it being appropriate. Someone else would say a T-shirt is necessary. Someone else a jacket and so on.

It is well-known that each airline has their own policy about offensive clothing being worn by passengers as well as vulgar language being used by passengers. Do some people really not know this? The flight crew can make a judgement about what they think is offensive...you don't get to debate them about it. Her tiny shirt (which is clearly just a bra) is inappropriate to wear in public, for sure. 😮 The other plane passengers obviously didn't want to get thrown off the plane with her and wisely kept their silence

Imagine being offended by a woman in a bra.... These moaning passengers on the flight are likely going to be on a beach within a few hours and see dozens of women there "in a bra" (bikini) and not think anything of it. People should mind their own damn business and stop trying so hard to be offended the whole time. It's usually insecurity or sociopathc people who are wanting to tell everybody else on how they should be. You've got to be a pretty sad person to feel the need to control everybody else around you.

No, it sure isn't. There are nudity and "lewdness in public" laws for a reason! So many people have terrible judgement about what is appropriate to wear or do in public. Granted, there are far more skanky shirts than the one this girl is wearing, but it's still not an appropriate shirt to wear away from say, the beach
