It’s not that they had 50,000 to lose, it was all that she cost them. The wedding venues still had to be paid, the bills and no job with her saying the money is coming. They still went on with plans based off of what she was telling them, they committed to everything based on what she said. Had she not told them that she had another job waiting, they would not have committed themselves and that money would have stayed in the bank. The dates come and go, they didn’t use them, they still have to pay for them. And since they didn’t have the Money due to no money coming in they are still paying out.

Some People are mentally unstable but at the end of the day , they should take responsibility for their actions too. My parents told us never leave a job until you know for sure you have a job. I never heard of you cant get a job or have a job while waiting for a job acceptance. Is this a thing in UK. If Helen was working how was she with couple so much. Helen should have her own tthings to do. Who says your name is on a desk? How do you get back wages if you didnt work? If you apply for a job, you either apply online or you bring application back in person yourself. You call yourself to check on your application status. I dont understand why this couple let Helen be in charge of her job application and status.

It's definitely not a thing in the UK. This couple are absolutely unhinged. You wouldn't sit around for 7 months waiting for a job and unless you had a start date and a signed contract, you wouldn't remotely think it was a done deal.

I think they were duped into her giving up her job, which in turn left her losing income and getting into debt elsewhere to cover expenses. Don’t think they spent £50K on a wedding, I think they had to cancel because she was left with no income

They took loans out on credit cards to tie them along and also the wedding didn’t go ahead so they lost the amount they paid for it ( can be expensive) plus they lost the wage for all that time. 2k+ a month adds up quick. That becomes 4k+ a month if they are using credit cards to surplus that amount.
