I’m disgusted. This monster doesn’t deserve to be released. He needs to be in prison for life

The father and step mother disgust me It’s no wonder she ran away. Blaming their daughter who was raped at 14 and held captive so disgusting

I remember hearing of this story I was only 2 years out of high school When the guy was caught It was very shocking to know that someone was held captive for 10 plus years 45 minutes from my home

her own father and step mother AND therapist also tried to sue her for profits of her book - this woman has been through it all

That is sickening, it’s not enough that her own family. Blame her for her own kidnap and captivity, now they’re suing her what she put in her book. Man! Can’t they just let her live her life, she suffered enough and they’re not making it. Easy for her to move on and heals, now her kidnapper and capture is freed. It’s just getting worse and worse for her, I hope she is strong to keep on living. Which that’s what she deserved she needed, even if those people are no help for her.

I don't think her father understands the psychology behind the captivity. He doesn't understand that Tanya was too fearful to leave her abuser and even though she had limited freedom with Thomas she was threatened and her family were threatened if she tried to escape. She was too terrified to leave and was totally brainwashed and under his control. Her dad thinks she could just leave and if you aren't educated about being held captive and if you don't understand the manipulation involved then it won't be clear to her father why she went there in the first place and why she didn't just leave. I can see both sides but where I have no sympathy for her parents is when they start blaming and suing their daughter rather than educating themselves and trying to understand what happened. Tanya is a true survivor and I am so pleased she has found happiness and I pray that she reunites with her parents and forgives them. What truly horrifies me is that the justice system has completely let Tanya down-it makes me angry that he was able to cut a deal and I strongly believe that criminals should not be allowed to reside anywhere near their victims if they are released-she was failed AGAIN!!Tanya if you read this maybe you can fight for a change in the law to prevent this from happening in future-it could be TANYA'S LAW and Tanya you have the strength and ability to see this through. No matter what I wish you, your family (including your parents) a bright future as let's face it you are all victims of this awful man who should be spending the rest of his life behind bars but the justice system failed them all right from the day Tanya disappeared. Why the police did not put two and two together after Tanya's diary literally spelt it out God only knows

Laws for child pred a tors are minimal because the politicians and unseen leaders don’t hold their “own kind” accountable for what they also enjoy partaking in.

Its because she was foster care kid and society doesnt protect foster care kids . It's sad and she willingly went to his home . If she wasn't a minor he wouldn't do any time sadly
