Guardianship abuse is a growing problem nationally. When things go wrong, there is no place to go for help. Families are shunted aside as their loved ones are forced into facilities against their will and their assets depleted. The system is much more protected than the people the system was created to protect. NASGA (National Association to Stop Guardian Abuse) is working hard for reform!

In Florida, 10 yrs back. My grandma in law who had zero money was told after a hospitalization that if she didnt walk within a week she would be put in a nursing home for life. My MIL won the fight to bring her home not walking thankfully but I guess there is money in stealing the elderly too.

In CA, they'd take my handicap sister's check of $1,500, and give her a $25/week voucher for clothes, bus pass, shampoo etc, and charge her $75 per every $25 monies they gave her. Then, they started a savings account for her, and every time it reaches $5,000, they sue her for it, for medical expenses, that are supposed to be paid completely by mediCal, Medicare, and through disability. They wonder why people are on the streets? That's why. They get robbed LEGALLY, by the State itself!

I was hit in a horrific car wreck At NO cause of my OWN! I was paralyzed from the waist down... Had APS and CPS (trying to take Coustody of my special needs son) BOTH At my door the DAY I got home from the hospital!!! I literally HAD to show BOTH APS AND CPS... Exactly HOW I could/would be able TO care for myself and my son! I was able to cook from my wheelchair, self bath with adaptive equipment and HAD groceries and other necessities delivered to my house.. thankfully..I was able to pass ** Their Requirements** MY Body WAS Severely damaged... MY MIND/MENTAL STATUS WAS FINE!!! I DIDN'T Get a HUGE lawsuit $$$$$$ the person responsible had stolen the car he'd hit myself and 4 other's with... THIS IS DEFINITELY ALL ABOUT THE 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 MONEY! Sickening to do this to this woman and violate her Rights! I HOPE and PRAY that she can get into TIRR Spinal cord rehabilitation for intensive therapies as it's VERY HARD to get IN....unless you have the *** RIGHT DR'S to do the paperwork/etc **** after 4.5 year's of being wheelchair bound.. I was able to get UP with a custom make AFO leg brace and a walker🙏🙌💯❤️ Mind y'all... I was TOLD I'd NEVER be able to walk nor function AGAIN and a Nursing home was My best option 😡 MY God Saw me through and I have been able to live IN my OWN Home and STILL able TO take care of my special needs Son!!!! I will say... It's taken quite A LOT of daily planning/prepping/etc .... Does this woman have any family she can trust? I guess when we're talking about $57 million in assets, all trust goes out the window. If she has no offspring or trusted family to appoint in overseeing her care and estate, she's going to be fighting with the probate courts indefinitely. She may even want to consider adopting a trusted friend or assigning them as her conservator. I considered becoming a fiduciary. It's a very lucrative career as you can see. This case is a great example of why it's pointless being mega wealthy when you have no heirs. You can't take it with you, so the vulture lawyers and kick-back judges are going to take every dime before you even take your last breath. Why earn it when you can steal it? It's the American way.

Guardianship laws are so challenging. Currently I'm trying to get Guardianship of my sister. She's 40 & high functioning, yet not capable of doing many life survival skills on her own. My mom has guardianship of her now & is abusive, has taken her phone, smashed it & does so many things that override her human rights. Its so easy to get guardianship but to have it removed EVEN with proof of abuse is a challenge. Laws need to change!!!!

I worked in a snf where I saw this happen to quite a few residents. Largely veterans who were service connected. Families had their elderly committed, dropped them off and only returned for legal business, "documentation" and signatures. Had to write quite a few witness statements and police reports.
