Just found this series today and have to say lovely stuff! Always enjoy these smaller 009 layouts and look forward to future installments in this series.

Awesome stuff! Really enjoyed watching your first two episodes recently so it was a nice surprise to see this pop up today. Looking forward to seeing more in the future too, keep up the great work! 👍

Thank you very much, it always great to get nice comments off the larger channels like yourself. I would have made this video sooner had I realised how much footage I currently have to work through, its a surprising amount of work for such a small layout, it almost makes me dread going back to work on the big project.

These videos have been super helpful for me while making my own layout, and in general your videos are extremely well made, to the point where I wonder how on earth you don’t have more subscribers! Keep up the amazing work!

Thank you very much, trying to get subs seems one of the hardest things in the world I have no idea what I need to do to get more people, some of my videos have had 34k+ views yet they don’t bring a lot of subs. I’m probably not using the right tags or titles or something the else the algorithm doesn’t like. Thanks for watching

@@WesternSignalman in all honesty don’t worry about it. As long as your enjoying your hobby that’s the most important part. KZbin is very strange sometimes, and often they hide videos on channels for no reasons. I’m yet to make any videos myself, and if I start, I’m not looking forward to putting up with the sites antics… Keep up the great work though!

Thanks, I don’t worry about it I just like to show other people my modelling otherwise I’d be the only one to see it.

That's the advantage of modeling an old church, a lot of them are slightly skew-whiff in reality! :D
@WesternSignalman3 жыл бұрын
This is very true, I did correct it a little bit but it still has a slight wonkyness about it.

I am loving this series. I am planning something similar for my own 00 layout to add interest. The smaller end of the church (around 19:55) is usually the Chancel - which contains the Altar (and often the choir etc). Of course, to be true to prototype the Chancel should be at the eastern end of the building!
@WesternSignalman3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard, someone else had pointed out it was called a Chancel but I didn’t know it needs to be on the east side, at least it’s position on the layout will now give an idea of where you standing when looking at the layout, in my minds eye it’s being looked at from the south so that’s worked out nicely.

The smaller end part of the church is the chancel. Another good video, thanks.

If you're doing a narrow gauge layout, it has to be based on North Wales. It seems to be some kind of law or something. Looking great - really enjoying this series.
@WesternSignalman3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bil, I think your right, I did try and consider other lines such as snailbeach but there’s something about that North Wales scenery I just wanted to model.

Hi the layout is looking good with the slate mountain your creating, plus loads of surgery on the church to fit the scene, but that's modelling if it doesn't fit make it lol. Look forward to the next update.
@WesternSignalman3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Steve, I probably shouldn't have been so impatient with the church and waited for the layout to be at the stage where I could work out what space I had, but I didn't turn out to bad in the end (as I will show in a future update)

Loads of churches are wonky like that anyway! Look at Truro Cathedral! Looking great!

very true, I think an estate agent would describe it as a building with character.

@@Mumbles274 that’s fair enough, locos are so expensive these days. What’s in your collection are they kit builds or r-t-r

@@WesternSignalman I've got one little loco, very basic, and a bunch of wagons but it's fine for a little shunting. Got a couple of vids of an 009 I built on channel, from quite a while ago now

Sounds great Les, I’ve found building in this scale really fun, despite the few issues I’ve had with track laying. Good luck with the future project.

Hello great build I'm wondering what is the size off your narrow gauge layout
@WesternSignalman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks John, it’s 1 metre by 75 cm
@johnneville72732 жыл бұрын
@@WesternSignalman wow small I but quite a size to I only have 80cmx 55cms shame your a really good at building layout. Sorry about your river looks amazing how it turned out in end I used to put clear varnish on my other layouts to make it shiny but it took 3 or 5 layers. Can't wait for your next video all the best derek

hey i know im a little late{ but maybe your next one lol} try dragging the plasterboard knife across the sufrace of your foam at like 90 degrees to the surface....since it has a variety of teeth sizes it will thus rip and tare at uncommon {non uniform} sizes so it will look more natural

Very late for this one I’m afraid this layout was finished a year ago 😆 but thanks for the tip I’m sure I’ll be modelling north wales again sometime in the future

Doesn't matter that the "Chancel" (little end of the church is crooked. Many medaeval churchs are found like this. Suggested to be like the head of Christ falling to one side on the cross. The Chancel Holds the Altar (place of the Sacrificial Offering in the Mass of his Body & blood) the main part is the Nave like the main part of a ship like Noah's Ark holding all types of people.

The mistake at the beginning? The only thing that I can find is the sound bite of your steam engine, You used the sound of the gas powered rail car? Hard to tell anything else...

I say oo gauge 9 build That sound your hear is from the original titles of a Bachmann 108 passing by in slow motion. If you keep watching the series you’ll see I uptake the intro.
