11:21 yeah some deep dive, there are a lot of things that simply are not mentioned here, you mention nuance , but you do not actually talk about it, you may not want to admit it, but gender roles are some of the most powerful influences in literature

Is this an AI made clip? So robotic. To Sail Beyond the Sunset, Novel by Robert A. Heinlein...blow your conversation out of the water as a Iconic female. This is a good topic, but generic talking point bringing nothing uniquely to the conversation that's hasn't been heard to death and this sounds so boring no counter conversation sounds like a person having a conversation with themselves.

I agree. The scrip could have been written 20 years ago. The first red flag was when they treated female writers and female characters as interchanged for the sake of this discussion. One is real, the other is intentionally fictional. That is comparing apples and oranges. And then there is given the example of Laia and Rachel that were said to “serve the interest of the male protagonist” and “stuck in a framework mostly defined by men.” This argument is in and of itself misandrist because the both were NOT the main protagonist of the story. Yes, they were there to serve the main protagonist because they were supporting characters. They weren’t placed there to “slaves to the male character”, they were placed there to give specific functions to the stories narrative. Nether characters were portrayed badly. In fact, Laia was defiantly cutting edge for the 70s. A princess capable assisting with her own rescue. (It took Luke to get her out of her cell, but it was Laia that enabled their escape from the prison block. How about how she never gave away the rebel base - even when under torture!) And when a female DOSE become the main protagonist, such as Ripley; they bag on her “motherly instincts” when this was precisely the motivation that made her such an interesting character. How about we examen the contra narrative, when they replaced Luke with Ray in Force Awakens. The ended up creating a Marry Sue character. So really, this piece was just a rehash of tired old talking points. Which is a shame because there is a real need for a conversation here. Clearly feminists don’t know how to do female characters. How can we do female characters both classic and originals, the justice that they deserve? (And I am not just some passive observer here. I am a writer trying to do just that. AI think-bots. What scares me more is who is funded AI? Currently 90% of the Democrats top donors are AI companies. , Why? What is they think they will gain from them being in power?

Its easy to tear down stuff. Hard to build anything. Patriarchy is a pretty awesome civilisation block by the happiness and purpose it brought to the vast majority of people. What we got instead pales in comparison.

I could not make it through. I could hear the dude breathing, are you sure it was AI. (Maybe AI now adds that.) But I also think it was written by AI, it’s just too generic and academic with no original takes. At least to the point I made it too.
