I live in the middle of the desert. I build things all day. It’s very fulfilling. I spent my time today staining wood, wiring some electricity, fixing my water heater, expanding my exercise room, worked on a cartoon, cleaned carpets, and learned a new song. I woke up at noon. Its almost midnight and I want to keep working but I’m giving my body rest. I love playing video games but honestly out here I have no interest. I’d rather roof another house. @49 minutes, Cappy, we aren't coming back. This current civilization is our one shot at getting off the planet. Most (really nearly all) easily accessed mineral energy has been accessed and consumed. A future civilization will have to rely on non-mineral energy resources until they can attain the technology of fracking, deepwater drilling etc. Assuming they even realize the resource exists. Without the work multiplying advantage of mineral energy sources, technology has a hard ceiling well short of what we have attained; think steam age, relying on wood since coal will be too hard to access. Even mass produced steel on the industrial scale will be impossible. This civilization has to succeed and continue, or we are done, basically forever.
